I generally ask her to name a comfortable allowance range. And ALWAYS meet in a public place for a drink. If she goes back to your place and gets it on--well, she could be a cop, but not on duty. Payment at the end is a good thing.

How do they know they were cops?  I think the lady has to give some blatant indication shes a pro before she'd be a target. I mean there are thousands of chicks on SA and cops randomly trying to entrap them doesn't sound likely. On the other hand, cops might pose as sugar babes waiting for p4p offers.

And I don't ALWAYS meet in a public place for drinks first, although I USUALLY do.

 
Hookers are always on the lookout for LE and sometimes we see what we are looking for, even if it's not actually there. POT SD's are not as experienced as TER Johns, nor are they anywhere near as discrete, It's very possible that your hooker buddies simply had a bunch of POT SDs asking inappropriate questions that they "interpreted" as LE, when it wasn't LE at all.  

 
I think the much bigger worry for hookers/johns using SA is SA itself, which in an effort to keep from becoming the next site to be forced out of business has taken a VERY strong anti prostitution stance. (see attached link) Personally, I have ZERO LE stories from my time in the Sugar Bowl, yes I've seen several "pros" masquerading as SB's but I have yet to run into any POT SB's that made my spidey sense go off in an LE related way. I am a lot more concerned about potential scams than I am LE where it comes to the Sugar World, but that doesn't mean that a little common sense shouldn't be used. Writing to a girl offering her "money to have sex" is always a bad idea regardless of the venue.

I cant see LEO expending the effort to work SA for busts.  Too much effort for small fish.

especially where a good size PD has a vice squad, and the officers may have a quota of arrests to make lest their department funding get cut.

 
The loss of boards like BP are bringing about a situation where vice squads could shoot fish in a barrel by posting a fake ad, renting a cheap-o motel room, and sit back and bag perps as easy as pie.

Now, their supervisors are probably encouraging their officers to go on the net and find new venues.   Sad to say but many of them read this very board (I they are too stupid to figure out how to get on here.) and after reading this board, they well might be targeting SA.   In any case, until such time as we have more information, people should be very cautious in all their hobby dealings.
