the female condom

because of all the buzz female condoms have generated here on TER, i decided to test drive a couple with the Hubby. it was um...unpleasant to say the least. :(

i found it very uncomfortable and awkward-fitting (this, after taking great care to fit as directed), and very conspicuous...there was definitely no possibility of forgetting it was there. also a lot of lubrication was needed, and as someone who prefers to use lube only when absolutely necessary, and just the tiniest dab at that...i found that aspect very unpleasant as well. and the noise, although somewhat helped by the lubrication, was still quite distracting and unsexy. after those experiences, i would never use such a condom with a client.

perhaps in another 5-10 years there will be improvements in the product which will make them palatable to a wider variety of women.

LG, I've been hobbying now for awhile.  Been having a lot of fun, met some wonderful women, and it's given me a way to put some excitement back into my life (my SO is a woman of a certain age--sex with her is really kind of routine, and she also has trouble lubricating--gyno gave her some kind of cream or something--and now when we have sex I feel like I'm just kind of floating around in there--very difficult for me to get enough sensation to "get there").

Now I'm seeing providers and I'm having the same problem, although for a somewhat different reason:  The damn condoms are also preventing me from feeling enough to "get there".  It's amazing--I stay hard the whole time, I would love to come in some typical position (mish, CG, whatever), but it's just not enough for me.  The provider and I always have to settle for BBBJ, sometimes combined with an HJ, or else it's just "Mission:  Impossible" for me.  I'm starting to feel like condoms are for the kids (who need so little to get them going). A middle-aged guy like me just needs more.  I compensate somewhat by scheduling longer appointments, and sometimes I warn the provider that I can be something of a project.  They've all been good sports--but dammit, just once I'd like to be able to come the more or less "normal" way.

Is there any hope?

Dear RokkKrinn,

This topic is rapidly overtaking the Help-I've-Fallen-for-a-Provider syndrome as the problem du jour. I do have compassion for you - as you slide into your middle years, penile sensations may become somewhat compromised and the condom certainly doesn't help.

Ergo: FEMALE CONDOM to the rescue! Please buy a pack and discuss with the providers in question. It takes a little finagling to insert, but nothing worse than a cervical cap or diaphragm. And yes, it does make a world of difference; in fact, it could be the solution to this most vexing problem. They cost a little more than the male version, but many of our fellas on this board swear by them.

Off to the store you go,

While the LG's advice of using a female condom is spot on, you are probably at the liberty of using whatever male condoms the lady has. While bringing your own condoms can be tricky, they much be in an opened carton, not loose. Many escorts allow them. Now how do you find a condom that fits and works for you. Drug stores really have a limited supply to choose from. I buy my condoms at www.condomdepot.com  This web site has every condom know to mankind. Finally instead of a hj, find a lady who performs bbbjcim. That'll work until you figure out the condom thing. Good luck!

Luckily, I have no trouble attaining orgasm using a male condom to start with. And one trick I saw one provider try was to use a ribbed condom with the ribs IN, and add a bit of extra lube. That was worthwhile too.

But LG is right -- the Holy Grail of barrier protection is the female condom. It is absolutely fantastic!

Sadly, few provider use these. Hopefully they'll catch on.

It has helped my clients who have the same issues as you have stated...so I got used to them and started using them exclusively.

You have to use a lotttttttttttttttttttttt of lube with them, and when you are using them, if you can hear them, take a short break and re-lube.

Many ladies are NOT going to have them and just as many more have never even seen a female condom so you may end up teaching them how to use them correctly. They are latex free and are absolutely the best condoms. They are a little more pricey than a pack of male condoms.

Both myself and all the ladies that I know who use them order ours online at the link below.

Good LUCK!

Try one ultra thin ones or ones that promote sensitivity for the man and  lube on the inside and the outside of the condom could help.
