blood pressure- For LG

I'm trying to balance my meds in a way that doesn't detract from, and maybe enhances, my experience with sex.   I am taking a generic version of lopressor for hypertension, twice a day.   I've had difficulties in the past with ED, whether it is physical, psychological, or related to the meds.   I have a prescription for viagara also.   I have a family history of heart disease, and actually have had stents placed in a couple of cardio arteries.  I'm also on Plavix, Aspirin, and Prinivil.  I'm in my late 40's and single.

Questions:  Which, if any of these meds could negatively impact the ability to get and sustain an erection or to ejaculate?

If I skip one of the meds, such as Metoprolol on the morning before sex, my BP will rise- what impact does that have by itself?

I am able to get an erection and to ejaculate flying solo, which tells me that any problems may be more psychological, but when I took a viagara, I get the erection without the ejaculation.  An improvement, but not fully satisfying.

With my next experience, I'm thinking I'll take a blue pill but half the dosage.

Are there any "natural" supplements that may be helpful?

Any advice or suggestions?

Dear diveatfive,

My advice to you is to meet with your physician and have a CANDID talk about these medications. I am not a medical doctor and if you were to come to my practice and ask the same thing, I would refer you to a competent internal medicine specialist.

As to the meds affecting your ejaculatory ability/erection - any BP meds will do it. Aspirin shouldn't, but it's of little help when your ticker already is compromised.

Viagra does absolutely nothing for ejaculation, only erection. In terms of performance anxiety, you may need to practice relaxation exercises when visiting with providers. But first order of things - have a heart-to-heart with the doc. Remember, they operate under laws of confidentiality, so if you tell him not to enter any of your conversation in his/her notes, s/he won't.

As to natural supplements...egads, I'd hate to see what interactions could potentially arise with all the other stuff you're taking.

Go see the doc, please,

This is not the place to be seeking medical advice.  Go see your doctor.  I am on the exact same meds and, after a couple of consultations, I have arrived at a formula that works very well for me.

...an unqualified and resounding "yes".

Lopressor would probably be the most likely offending agent as regards an inability to obtain and sustain an erection.

Would NOT recommend discontinuing meds (it's still floating around anyway) for any reason.  Discuss with your physician.  If you cannot get a satisfactory resolution, consult another.
