Not really looking for advice, after reading through some of the prior posts, and seeing that you were working on an article/book on this profession, I was just curious if there was ever a study done or the topic addressed with respect to the man's drive to participate in this hobby being driven by hereditary or genes, IE. My grandfather participated, my father participated, and now I am???

I will be conducting a study of TER and its hobbyists sometime in 2009. In the meantime, rest assured that your DNA most likely includes some activity in the brain's hypothalamic area for risk and reward behavior involving dopamine receptors. Such behavioral patterns based on stimulus-response can certainly be inherited, just as any preferences.

I would just carry on the family tradition and not worry too much about it
