I'm a frustrated 52 yr old hobbyist. Let me begin by saying I had a heart attack 5 years ago and later had 4 by passes. Since then, I've doing great health wise. Lost about 30 pounds, cholestral is down, blood pressure ( with medication ) is okay now.
But my sex life has not been very good since all this. I don't know if it's the BP medicine or what. Wether with my SO or a gorgeous provider, the result is usually the same. I can usually get hard, but have a hard time sustaining it. Don't know if it's the toprol or what, but it's frustraing as hell. Tried viagra, levitra and cialis, with having the best results with levitra. But here lately, even the levitra is not helping. There have been a couple of times that things have gotten off to a good start, but when the condom is on, I lose it. Sometimes I've never gotten a real good erection even before the condom.
Just wondering if anybody has had similar experiences and if so......had any luck overcoming the obstacles. I've had several outstanding ladies that have worked like crazy to get the desired results. I'm talking beautiful, sexy ladies that I should have no trouble getting erect with. Like I said in the beginning, it's frustrating as hell.
Dear Left Fielder,
My suggestion to you is to address this problem with a physician and ask him/her for a change in your BP medication. BP meds are notorious for tampering with erectile capacity.
Please see the doc for a change,

start seeing a drop in quality of erection ?
Damn, what I wouldn't give a good hard on and something to do with it.
Dear Middle GA Mike,
Barring any psychological or organic/physiological factors, a minority of males - and I mean A MINORITY - can begin to experience a decline in erectile ability in their mid to late 30s. N.b. that we are not discussing ejaculatory competence but actual erectile function. There are many studies on this, however, and one needs to be careful in interpreting the data. There are so many contributing factors that it is difficult to pinpoint a fixed year. But as with everything else, there is a bell curve. In general, andropause is thought to begin in a man's 50s, but there may be some prodromal years where SOME men begin to notice erectile difficulties in their 40s. Then there are men who are able to maintain erectile function well into old age, some with, some without a decline in ejaculatory capacity. But please bear in mind that stress levels, alcohol/drugs/smoking, diet, emotional well-being, medications, weight, organicity, prostate issues, etc. can conspire to change erectile function in a man of ANY age. As the body ages, however, erectile function may age right along with the rest of the package. Or not!
One way to maintain general penile health is to ejaculate regularly, at least 2-3x weekly. From an evolutionary standpoint, it makes perfect sense. Please remember this simple and pleasant exercise to maintain good health and some internal calm. The little head is no different from the big one - use it or lose it...
Enjoy your penis, you only get one in your lifetime,
the Love Goddess
I have no problem with the ejaculating part, thank goodness it doesn't have to extremely rigid to do that. I just know it would be more pleasurable for me and my partner if it were as hard as it used to be.
This is probably a stupid question, but do any of the pills you see on the infomercials work ?
Wonder if a shot of testorene would help. I did take some horny goat weed for a time and it seemed like I had more of a desire.
I'm a frequent masturbater (lots of great memories and would love to make some more...LOL)

Dear Middle Ga Mike,
PLEASE don't waste your money on those infomercial pills...unless someone can go on this board and verify with 100% veracity that they work. If they worked flawlessly, no physician would hesitate in recommending them. If you take horny goat weed and it increases your desire, does it also increase your erections? Maybe, maybe not. You could always try, although I hesitate to make blanket recommendations for any substances that have not been documented to cause erections among those with serious difficulties.
Forget about shots of testosterone unless you have documented low levels. If you did, you would probably know it - tired, listless, almost depressed...but go visit the doc and have a blood test just for the hell of it. Otherwise, you could cause more harm than good. Androjel or even a patch would be a better option, but as stated - the doc will determine if your levels warrant such treatment.
Enjoy the masturbating,
the Love Goddess
let me start by saying dont loose hope. you dont say the specific drugs you are taking for your cholesterol and more importantly your b.p. meds. both of these type of drugs can have side effects that effect erection duration and sustainability. you can look up these yourself in the PDR(physcians desk reference) and discuss them with your doctor. your problem could be solved with a simple change of medication. some b.p meds will make it dfficult to get erect, others will make it difficult to climax once erect. talk to your doctor. if you cant get a doctor you can talk to.
I take crestor, toprol and lisinopril. Let's say I had an early afternoon or late morning rendezvous, would it be okay to skip the BP medicine until afterwards or would that even make a difference ?
Dear Left Fielder,
Please consult with your physician to ask these questions. Due to liability issues, we do not condone, encourage or post explicit medical advice directed to posters on this board, particularly not from someone operating under an alias - even if said username contains the words "doc." My standard response is for all and sundry to see their physician, since s/he is best equipped to take responsibility for making adjustments in dosages of prescription medications.
Thank you,
the Love Goddess

I think that we have to be more accepting that as we get older, the penis just isn't going to work as well, anymore. I have battled ED all my life and once I reached my 50's it became worse. I doubt anyone has been more sexually frustrated than me, so I know where you're coming from. Fortunately, the rest of me is fit and very healthy, so I should be thankful for that.
