Male yeast infection

I think I may have contracted a yeast infection on a recent visit with a provider. No, the FS was NOT bareback. But I read somewhere that a certain type condom may give a guy the yeast infection. Or is it possible to get it from BBBJ ? It's not a good thing to take home to momma. Kind of hard to explain.

Oy vey, Left Fielder,

What you've read about is probably condoms with the spermicide nonoxynol-9 having caused vaginal yeast infections and perhaps penile yeast infections as well? Nothing conclusive, but maybe it's a good idea to leave those off your must-have list.

As to causes and what to do: see the link please, courtesy of the friendly folks at Michigan State University. Short of administering antifungals like oral Diflucan or even shmearing Monistat on your pecker, it won't go away on its own.

Just to be sure though....I'd book an appt with a physician to have a more detailed inspection. Unless you get a professional diagnosis, it's never a good idea to self-treat unless 100% sure of what ails you.

Don't scratch that itch,

That's exactly what I had read the nonoxynol-9. Plus I did have an urologist diagnose it. He gave me some topical cream. Is that type condom common ?

You're welcome, Left Fielder,
That condom is just as common as the non-spermicidal type. If you want to be safe, always bring your own. Most providers worth their salt have already heard about the nonoxynol-9 issue and many have switched to the non-spermicidal variety...particularly since nonoxynol-9 was found ineffective against HIV [another issue altogether.]

Take care,

you also may want to check your blood sugar.  diabetics are more prone to develop yeast infxns.
