I apologize if this is not something you would want to answer on this forum, but I noticed in the previous thread that you said that you can conduct therapy sessions via Skype.
This caught my attention because I have recently had a session with a therapist whom I like very much, but they are only here for a short while and will be moving far away soon. They suggested, however, that we could continue our sessions via Skype.
My question is, do you think the Skype sessions are as effective as face to face sessions? If not, then how much detriment is there to them, in general?
I suppose it depends on the participants in the endeavor! I am very used to conducting coaching or therapy sessions via Skype and I find them extremely effective. My clients apparently do the same. In fact, I would go so far as to say it's not only convenient, but it also enables the practitioner to concentrate on the client's minute facial expressions, inflections in voice, etc. without any extraneous interference such as the room, any potential noises outside, etc. There is an intensified focus on the client and nothing else.
In terms of laws and ethics however, the Skype sessions for THERAPY need to take place in the home state of therapist licensure, i.e. the client and the therapist need to reside in the same state. If it's for sex-and-life coaching, then there are no specific regulations and the sessions can occur between participants in any location of the world.
I am an advocate of it and an adherent. On the other hand, there may be therapists who have other preferences,
