LG: The FBI often does profiles of criminals ("absent or violent father", ect). What is the profile of a guy who uses higher-end escort agencies? (As opposed to the guy who picks up streetwalkers.) I have a profile in my mind and wounder what you think.

Dear Bob Crane,
Please see the previous thread attached. It will somewhat explicate my position at this stage of the game. I am currently conducting a literature review in preparation for the dissertation.

if, for dissertation purposes, it would be useful to get the insight of a hobbyist with 40+ years of experience, PM me.

Thank you, QualityGuy,
When the time comes,in early 2009 alas, there will be a rallying call for survey subjects on every TER discussion board. TER will be famous in academic circles and the anonymous responses of the members will make world class sexual history!

Cheerio,
the Love Goddess

Thanks.
Watch for my creative nonfiction essay in a literary journal coming to the back row of a newstand near you, sometime....

TER should NOT be famous anywhere. Granted, it's open and not exactly a secret, but we do not want any more attention drawn here than necessary. You definitely should not be indentifying TER in any way in anything published anywhere. Anything at all that makes a forum like this more important makes it more of a target for law enforcement activity.

Once upon a time, Craig's List was safe, too.

It's naieve to think that LE all over the country doesn't monitor TER; assume that it does.  What the vast majority out there isn't aware of is that there's an enlightened, intelligent community in which respect, fairness, professionalism and safe sex predominates.

Once there was a chicken ranch. Everyone know what it was and why it was and LE looked the other way. Then it became famous (or infamous). Then political and public pressure put it out of business.

What is truly naive is to think that if the national press spotlight ends up focused on this forum it would bring anything less than disaster.

I for one trust LG to shield this forum from such consequences, but the last thing we need is some wanker from ABC/CBS/NBC evening news trying to interview staff or members on this site. Because they (unfortunately) won't be trying to show the world that "there's an enlightened, intelligent community in which respect, fairness, professionalism and safe sex predominates". They'll be looking for sensational ratings.
IMO - Sad but true

In a scholarly article published in Archives of Sexual Behavior or Journal of Sex Research, for example, neither the subjects nor the interview site or location studied are identified by name. These articles are read by members of academia, researchers, university professors, etc., some of whom are likely members of TER, LOL. In fact, most research studies read something like this: "In a major Southwestern university, 240 undergraduate students were subjected to xx xx xx, etc.

In fact, if I were to mention TER by name anywhere in the paper, it would constitute rather unscholarly behavior and most members of academia would definitely frown upon it. In addition, the study will not concern TER specifically, it will analyze the behavior of purchasers of commercial sex.

Writing a dissertation or a research article such as this one does not imply that The Erotic Review will be "famous." This was said in an ironic vein and most people familiar with reading research articles would understand this fact.

I would suggest that you check out one of these journals to assuage your fears. You can do so on the Net. As for TER being famous, well, I think your worst fears have been confirmed. The Erotic Review IS famous. It's the members who are anonymous. But as an institution among sex buyers, TER is already a legend of its members' making...

enemies are the reason for paranoia.

(Man, I haven't come up with anything that profound since my last acid trip back in '79.)

Nookie at home - nope
Not a hope
My dick gets hard when I think about pussy
Jerking off by myself I feel like a woosie
Logging on my cyber friend - TER
Instead of going out to a bar
Will make me lucky with just a few bucks
Guaranteed to get a great fuck
Or BBBJ and CIM
Won't happen just on a whim
But then I'll go and post the review
So my buddies can say - Whew!
Lucky guy to nail that provider
and tell us all about "inside-her"

Best I could do this late.

thank you Mr. Fisher for the compliment.  I enjoy your intelligent banter on the various boards.

I was feeling inspired not by drugs but by thinking about my next encounter with some gorgeous lady who will "do me" for $$$ but wouldn't even look at me otherwise.  That thought made the little ditty come into my mind.

Adios, my friend.
