Following up on sweetman' post about fake SB profiles, what are some of the ways you guys sniff out a fake profile or a scammer? My fake profile (for SB research only) just got favorited by an SB who looks wayyyyyy TGTBT... 26yo blond who would certainly be a TER 10 on appearance based on her SA pics. I'm on SA hiatus right now so I wouldn't message her anyways, but my Spidey-sense is going off big time and thinking this girl is not real.  

The first thing I noticed about her profile is that her 2 public pics (no private pics) look somewhat professionally done. They are not model shots per se, but they also don't look like they were taken by her friends or with her phone. This is a red flag numero uno for me.  

2nd red flag is that her profile description is VERY generic and then the "What I Am Looking For" part is left blank.  

3rd red flag is that she favorited me first. I had never seen her profile before just now (even though I should have since she falls within all my search parameters). Now if this girl was for real, she's hot enough that her mailbox would be overflowing with messages from motherfuckers trying to get into her pants and I doubt she would have the time or inclination to be favoriting my fake profile (which, in my defense, I only use for anonymous SB research... I only message or reach out to POTs via my real profile) which has little to no detail other than my fake net worth.  

These three things are the ones that most boldly jump out at me as being immediately suspect. The fact this girl is almost TOO pretty is kinda the tipoff for me. Generally, I love it when the girl is a knockout but usually I will look at the types of pics she is posting to validate if she's for real or not. For example, if it looks like the pic was taken out clubbing with her girlfriends, or a selfie in the ladies room, or best, an at-home candid bedroom mirror or bathroom selfie... these are the girls I tend to think are legit. When the girl is supermodel pretty AND the photos look professional, that's when I tend to take things with a grain of salt and think the pics might be stolen and it's potentially a scammer.  

So what are some of the things that tip you guys off that a profile is fake or from a scammer?

although I've certainly had my suspicions about a few.  About the SB profile I posted about recently, after some thought I decided to ask her.  I sent her a polite message pointing out that both men and women have to be careful and can't really know if the person they are talking to online is really who they say they are or not. I told her my telephone number search came up with this man's name, and told her the name.  I'll be curious to see what she says. As for the ones that look TGTBT, there's one girl in my area who is a professional model and the pics she posted on SA are very professional.  She's a world class stunner! I took her out to dinner once almost 2 years ago and had a great time talking and flirting.  Then she never replied to me again.  But she continues to be active on the site and still has those awesome pics posted. So she's real, but maybe just likes men to buy her nice dinners.  Or maybe she just wasn't into me.  Nah, that can't be it lol.

I don't actually think SA has that many fake profiles. In fact, I think the three red flags you proposed are not red flags at all. I've met SBs who have fit in all 3 of the categories (not all 3 at the same time, but met 1 of the categories) and they have turned out to be real.  

The only red flags that I have are:

1. Reverse image search on their pictures leads to photos that are clearly not of the SB
2. Chinese SBs who want to get me to sign up for this gagahi site (anybody else have this problem?)
3. Profiles from the Philippines that favorite me (not sure if these are actually fake or if the Philippines just have a lot of women on SA looking for Americans)

Thanks for your feedback. I can see your perspective on how taken in isolation any of my red flags can lead to perfectly valid POTs. To give you some background, I personally have had the following 4 scams pulled on me during my various 4-5 aggregated months on SA...

1. Videos Scam - Had POT tell me that she wanted to meet me but that she had been burned by other SDs before and that she wouldn't meet or schedule a date with me unless I bought her videos (some low-res, amateur pics and vids) first as a sign of good faith that I was "serious". I sent her 50 for the vids as show of good faith and she ghosted me afterwards.  

2. Pre-pay Scam - Super-hot, pretty, thin supermodel-type was VERY interested in meeting me after I sent her a brief message. We texted back and forth bc she wanted to meet ASAP. She said yes to every demand or like/dislike that I asked her about. She was almost too agreeable bc my Spidey-sense started going off. We agreed on 500 per meet and then she  finally hit me with it that I had to PayPal her the 500 in advance just to SCHEDULE the date. She gave me the whole song and dance about being burned by other SDs before and she was just protecting herself. I told her she was out of her mind if she thought I was going to send her 500 without ever meeting her first and told her to fuck off and not contact me again.  

3. BP girl - I posted this story before about how I met this SB in January who I found her BP ads a few days before our first date. I was going to bail but later decided to give her a chance. Got her back to the motel where she started acting squirrelly. We got naked and she did actually fuck me (badly with no interest or passion) for about less than 5 minutes before grabbing the money and running out of the room naked wrapped in just a towel. At least that one was good for a laugh and a good story.  

4. Private Pics Scam - Started messaging with new SB. She asked to see my private pics. Once I released them to her and sent her my burner number to move convo to text, she went radio silent and 1-2 days later I got a text that my pics had been posted to PredatorAlerts.com for trying to buy sex online.  

Again, these are just the ones that have happened to me personally. I'm sure there are others that other guys here could share too.

For about a year and a half I dated this girl who had professional shots on her profile. She was actually an off-broadway actress who got small parts on a regular basis. I remember that I got in touch with her when I first started on SA. We chatted a bit, set up a date, and on the day of she ghosted me; didn't block me but I never got any responses from her after that. About six months later, I was browsing my mailbox looking for girls who had shown some potential and came across her profile again. I reached out again. This time, she responded and we set up a date for coffee. Great communication up to the time we met and we hit it off right away. The thing that impressed me was that she totally got the whole SB stuff. She laughed about the fact that there are girls who expect guys to pay to take them out to eat and hang out. We had a great thing going for about 18 months. Sometimes we'd meet weekly for weeks at a time. Then, we might not see each other for a month or two. But, every time I reached, she responded with a cheerful message about how much fun we always had and how happy she would be to get together. And just like that we would set up a date and catch up. But, like a perfect SB, she disappeared when you wanted her to. Our arrangement only ended recently because she moved out of NYC. Hopefully, she'll come to visit sometime. About as close to a perfect SB as I have seen.
I've also had a case of a girl favorite'ing me first who turned out to be a really cool and awesome SB (might see her later this week), although I agree that it's generally a red flag, especially with model looks.
To get back to your original point, in NYC at least, it's hard to go by the pics. I'll go with what another poster here responded, which is that I'm not sure there are a lot of fake profiles. There certainly are scammers of all shades and colors; but that's a different problem. But, the business model is different from AM, where there was a direct economic benefit from having fake profiles up.

In mind, scammers are in the same category as "fake" profiles, in that, these people (probably many of them are not even really women) are not really looking for SD/SB relationships and are really looking to separate us from our cash... but yes, you are right that "fake" profiles also pertain to profiles for SBs that don't really exist (as in the case of AM like you said). I think there are quite a few profiles for non-existent people (I have one myself). I am not as worried about these and agree that this is probably a much smaller issue than it is with the scammers.

You're right, there probably are a number of fake profiles. I have one fake SB profile and 1 semi-fake SD profile (not so much fake as an old inactive one). The difference is that these are inactive profiles in the sense that most of the time they will show no recent activity, nor would they ever favorite, contact or respond to anyone. This is in contrast to the AM fake profiles which actually initiated contact and responded to keep the cash register ringing for the site.

so I guess I have indeed encountered profiles that were not exactly fake, but were in fact honestly genuine scams, if you know what I mean. I would get favorited by a stranger and rhe she would send access to her private pics, all before I ever contacted her. She would then ask to move to email. Once on email she would claim she needed feedback on her webcam site and it as free.. But of course it wasn't and money was required to join the webcam site. I was targeted by perhaps a half dozen of those last year but have not seen any recently. I always reported them to SA admin.
