Reporting EVERYBODY who does this is not an option

So I got a nice message from a SB 1000+miles away from my city.  We exchanged some msgs during which I said I'm not doing any long distance dating.  Then she said she's down on her luck, just got out of the hospital, needs $$ for medicine, wants me to send her some, etc. etc. As I'm typing this I'm thinking any of you who read this are immediately gonna think she's a scammer, (if it's even a she!) I'd certainly think that if I read this.  SA has a warning that pops up on their message board nowadays that says "Tip: Never send or ask for money or gift cards before meeting. Never share or request banking information. Report anyone who does."  I don't want to report her in case she really is desperate and needs $$ for medicine.  I'd rather just ignore her. What would you do? Report her, or not?

Reporting her/him may have negative consequences (i.e. they report you back).

I have had literally hundreds of these kind of requests and I don't have the time nor the inclination to report them all. The only POT SB's I would report are ones that I would consider a "danger to the community" something like an underage girl peddling sex would be something I would report.

Personally I go along with the consensus here, I simply ignore them, or sometimes if I am bored I will play with them a bit before moving on.

Taking some adverse action by interacting with site staff can be a bad idea. You want to stay under the radar, and actively reporting or blocking (which could require a reason) will just invite staff to look at your message and other history closely. Just ghost “her”.

All she has to do is claim that you "offered money for sex" and you may be on the defensive forever, if not banned yourself if they can find any DM's that mention PPM with any of the POT SB's that you might have messaged.

Unless she has committed an infraction where NOT reporting her could get you in trouble, something like her admitting to being underage, the best strategy 99% of the time is to simply stop responding to her. I can't remember the last time I "blocked" a POT SB. I do it about as often as I put a TER member on "ignore" I just don't see the need when not responding works just as well.

I tend to ignore most transgressions.  Troublesome requests are still just requests.
