Since last August, I'd been happily rotating the three sugar I'd met on my last paid dip on SA. And then suddenly, in the span of the last 9 days, all three arrangements vanished into the night. One (late 30's) just dropped off the planet by ghosting me. Another (43) said she'd really enjoyed our times together, but had met someone that she really liked for serious long term. And the third (53) said it would "hurt" not to see me, but was moving on. She wanted to be a couple, and I'd resisted. I'd thought hard about it, because she really turned me on, and we got along really well out of bed too. But I just couldn't go there, having been flying solo for something like 14 yrs now, and having settled happily into being polyamorous. Every one has their own definition of what makes for a unicorn...she was that for me, but I feel like I would have disappointed her sooner rather than later. Funny that, how life goes on. Already I'm trying to decide who on my TER favorites list to contact for my next, hopefully, hot rendezvous.
Right now I am very happy with my current rotation of four SB's, but I have gone from "How am I going to juggle six different SB's who all want to see me in the same two day period?" to "where did all these girls go? I have NO ONE I can see today" all in a matter of a week or less.
It does happen and it's why I am constantly vetting POT's to make up for the inevitable attrition that happens in the bowl.
Completely agree with the feast or famine concept. This happens at all stages of the process. I’m currently looking to add to my rotation in a city that I’m in on a regular basis (and which I happen to be traveling too next week). I started the process about a week and a half ago, lo and behold this is one of the times of feast. I currently have 4 dates setup next week (and I’m not remotely on GaGa’s level which I say that out of total respect). Now there’s a high degree of likelihood that a few of those dates will fall thru for various reasons. I could have just as easily been in a position of a complete and total loss for the week. It always pays to have your toe dipped in the water and to be on the recruiting trail no matter how happy you are with your rotation. Sometimes you need to kick it on high gear and other times you need to slow it down. Either way, enjoy the journey...

As for the third lady who wanted a relationship with you, I think you may have made the right decision. The 14 years you mentioned that you have spent without one might always crop up into any new attachment scenario that you'd find yourself trying to enjoy.
After nearly 2 months since we'd been face to face, and a month since we'd last communicated, I sent a "miss you" text to the third. She responded that I'd made her day as she missed me too. We agreed to meet for lunch in a few days. Over lunch I found her somewhat distant, distracted by something for sure, but we talked about being a couple, and made plans for an overnight the coming weekend. Before that happened we exchanged texts and it was clear that we each had differing interpretations of our in person conversation. She did not take kindly to my saying I thought she'd been distant, and again dismissed me. That's a good thing, because it was a reminder of why I've been flying solo for so long, and reaffirms my appreciation for the NSA arrangement. Sometimes it's good to test one's convictions.
