POT SD Type Question

I love reading this board.  It's a peek at a world I do not play in.  I've been in the hobby several years now, but always P4P, always pros. I have to admit I'm a little jealous of the SDs here sometimes, as it sounds like a lot of fun, if you have the time to spend at it.  Also probably helps if, unlike me, you are not married (or at least not married to a woman who'd never understand your need to play.)  So, I daydream about it a little, knowing that I'll likely never dip my spoon into the sugar bowl.  But just in case I ever decide to dive into the pool, I'd appreciate some advice.

I have a notion of how things might work and have played out in my mind how I could possibly go about it. But there is one question that always stumps me, and it's not what you might think.  It's around declaring your income and assets on SA - are you honest about it?  Seems like too low, and no one is interested.  Too high, and expectations might also exceed what you have in mind for the activity at hand.  Is there a sweet spot that works well?

Also, any other advice about best practices when setting up an account on SA would be appreciated.

Thanks.

There have been many posts about setting up your SD profile and especially how to state Net Worth and Pay.

I'll give you some high-level guidance from my POV, but you should read up for a deeper understanding. You can search keywords like profile, allowance, net worth and posts I have made. Note that this is my approach and others may not agree.

1. Lying usually bites you in the ass later
2. Going too low puts you out of the Sugar Bowl. If your net income is too low to leave you at least a few hundred a month for sugar, you cant afford to be here.
3. Going too high attracts more GPS, ROB's, and fast hook-up POT's (which isn't bad if that's what you want), and it makes it difficult to negotiate a "fair" (at least fair to you) arrangement.
4. Cash flow (i.e.: annual pay) is more important than net worth - to a point. You may be worth $10 million due to property, investments, etc. But you aren't going to sell all your shares of Google or Amazon to get pussy. And if you state a net worth of say, $500k or less, you look like you suck at life (after 25+ years in the workforce) and can't accumulate wealth. Chicks dig successful Daddy's, not guys who've worked at the Costco check-out stands boxing bulk cheese and 50-packs of TP  for the last 20 years.

Good luck in your research. Once you've read up a bit, let us know if you still have questions...

I'd say be honest about your looks and your age.  There is no particular reason to be honest about your wealth.  She ain't getting it in any event unless you are a paypig, as they call them.

Not sure what the sweet spot is, but that sounds like a good first guess to aim in the middle.

Thanks, Herb.  Took your advice and did some searching. Found lots of good stuff by you and others on here.  It will take me a long time to read as much as I want, but I always believe research is of utmost importance. I spent several months reading and asking when I jumped into the hobby sevral years ago.  I  plan to spend as much time as I need to feel confident that I can make this work before taking the plunge.

I really appreciate your response and suggestions.

Thanks.  Think I will probably understate to a degree.
