I am sure that this question has been answered many times before, so forgive me for asking again.  But, what are the STD risks of BBBJ, DATY, and CIM to both the provider and hobbiest?  It seems to me that BBBJ and DATY are very acceptable activities, as well as CIM.  Are there no STD risk to these activities????

Dear stdhelp,

Yes, these topics have been discussed here numerous times.

Let's all repeat this mantra in unison: ALL UNPROTECTED SEXUAL ACTIVITY WITH INDIVIDUALS WHOSE SEXUAL HISTORY IS UNKNOWN TO THE OTHER PARTY CARRIES SOME RISK. Yep, that's it. And if there's one thing to understand, it is that BBBJ and mouth-to-female-genital (DATY) are unprotected sexual activities. Chlamydia, herpes, gonorrhea are infections that can become transmitted through oral sex. HIV virus transmission may also be a possibility.

Thus, it is up to each and everyone to assess his/her risk tolerance. As for "acceptable," this is truly in the mind of the beholder.

For more information, please check the link. It has probably been posted by me more than 10 times on this site.

Read up on it,

According to my Med-Surg teacher, DATY can give the girl herpes if the guy has it in his mouth...also a UTI. It can give the guy any assortment of things, but chlamydia and gonnorhea are the most common. You can also get an oral yeast infection if she has one. BBBJ and CIM can give you herpes if she has it in her month, or chlamydia or gonnorhea if she has it in her mouth, so run like hell if she complains of a sore throat. BBBJ and CIM can give the provider chlamydia, gonnorhea, herpes, hpv, trich. HIV infection this way is possible but last I checked the risk is like 1 in 100,000.

I checked the website for specific risk information on Asian "rimming," esp for women who engage in the practice with multiple partners.  I didn't find anything there or other inernet sites.  Any suggestions?

Dear Barnaby08,

Most likely because "rimming" isn't a common practice among women at large. On the other hand, rimming is huge in the gay male population.

First of all, AIDS is not what is being transmitted, it is the HIV virus. You need to keep those two separate. Secondly, neither I nor Macdaddy stated that HIV transmission is common - in fact she gave a very low number and I merely stated that it may be a possibility.

Please read the attached - a very interesting Spanish study among heterosexuals where one partner was HIV positive. Inconclusive, but does carry some risk.

Hope that works,
