A New Scam??

Or maybe this is an old scam and I'm only now realizing it.  Here's how it goes.  A new profile pops up.  She says she just got divorced/widowed, separated/is in an abusive relationship, blah blah blah.  Then she says because of that, 100% discretion is required.  Then she says you must live between 300 and 700 miles away from me, or some such.  If you contact "her" if it's even a her, she'll want to go to text immediately, will send sexy sounding messages, even unsolicited pics sometimes.  when it gets down to business she needs you to send her travel money, gas money, etc so she can come see you.  I've run into several of these lately and am now reporting them to SA admin as scammers.  I only replied to the first one and of course did not send any $.  Is this something you've seen also?

I've seen the same thing back in the old days of Craigslist personals.

I have to agree with The Cat. And I do notice that it's very common on both Secret Benefits and SugarDaddy for Me. You'll be going back and forth with a POT, seems to be going well and then comes the request for money in advance. That's an instant block from me but it is discouraging. Very much makes me want to wheedle my way back onto SA, where the scam artists do their best but at which I've always had a better success rate.

Yeah, seen travel scams several times.  Usually someone a couple hours drive from major city.  Needs gas money, etc.

They never seem to make it after you send money for them to travel.  I’d just ghost them, I wouldn’t block them they might get suspicious and report you for a SA crime you didn’t commit.  I also would not report them fearing the repercussions of getting kicked off.  Just ghost and move on.

Just yesterday I encountered this on a smaller scale. Texting a new Pot, area code from a different city said she moved here a few months ago.

Talking about meeting in public first so wanted to know what part of town to pick a place. She gave the name of what was a city 70 years ago, now just a distant memory as it was incorporated into the main city (Google maps makes it look like a valid tiny town of a few hundred). But - she wanted to meet on the other side of town, 20-30 miles away. Made me start to question this situation.

She then suggested we could skip the public meet and she could come over. Red flags are waving. Even if real, could this be a set-up for robbery? Gave her a nearby address and she sent an image from the Lyft app for 38 bucks. OK... Then asked me to pay for the ride. She’s booking so I say I can reimburse her with cash when she arrives. No, she wants me to transfer via PayPal of cash app. Needless to say there was no meeting.

And by the way, I meant SugarDaddyMeet not SugarDaddyforMe although it, too, is problematic at best!
