After seeing a provider that used a condom that contained it, I got a yeast infection a couple of years ago. That was kind of hard to explain at home.

I find that for a day or two after using a condom I feel an irritation (itching, burning) in the opening of my penis.  The feeling passes within 2 days.

It's pretty consistent and when if first happened (a few years back) I thought I had somehow contracted an STD.  I went to the urologist and he confirmed that I did not.

I know that I do not have an allergy to latex because in my work I wear latex gloves all day, every day and have no reaction on my hands ever.

I've considered that I might have a reaction to the spermicide in some condoms so I've tried non-spermicidal ones with no difference.

The question is whether any one else here has this experience and whether it's possible that I simply get irritated from the latex touching the urethral opening even though I apparently do not have a latex allergy.

On the other hand, is it possible that saliva contact during bbbj is the cause of this irritation?  If a provider uses an alcohol based mouthwash just before the encounter, will the alcohol cause the irritation in the urethral opening?

Any other ideas?
Thanks.

Yes on all accounts, iCock,

Saliva, alcohol-based mouthwash, latex allergy in the urethral meatus (opening) - all of this can cause issues.

You may want to switch to a polyurethane-based condom, or ask the provider to use a female condom (see thread below).

As to saliva - you may have to do some research; try several providers who will lick your penis - if your risk tolerance permits it.

And Lordy, Lordy, stay away from nonoxynol-9 -  paradoxically, it was found to compromise tissues, making them more vulnerable to HIV and other STDs.

Hope this helps,

Yes, I work in the pharma ind and a co that I used to work for had done extensive clin work on nonoxynol-9 as compared to the compound that we were working on (which failed in the trials). N-9, while also being an irritant to both parties, was found to make tissue more susceptible to AIDS and STD.  Thanks LG, you're the greatest.
