Bo hard data, just an empirical observation:

In the last 3 months or so, I'm seeing about 20-30% of new profiles under the age of 25 who have at least one nose ring in their pics.

I'm somewhat turned off my them, but don't consider them a deal breaker.

Agree that noserings are becoming more popular.  They are a turnoff and complete dealbreaker for me.  Same for nose piercings.  Just not my thing.

The ones that look like boogers.  Yuck.

Sometimes I've found that the girls with piercings (especially on the hood of their lady bit), as well as girls with tattoos, can tend to be much more sensual... more in touch with their sensuality.  

The septum rings can get in the way of kissing and foreplay.  The rings on the side aren’t an issue. I just question why it’s a “thing”.  I see no value in them.  

I guess I'm old fashioned and cranky but I don't care for tattoos, piercings, or tongue studs. That said, it's rare to find women under 40 void of those. Modest tattooing is ok with me but lots of piercings are a turnoff and I don't do tongue studs. I dated a woman years ago and when the moment of intimacy arrived, she began to undress and to my surprise, she had her ex-boyfriend's name tattooed across her pelvic area in large letters. She looked at me sheepishly and declared that she needed to get that covered. Yea, it was sort of a mood killer.

but, it depends.  I don't like nose ring piercings through the septum which sees the ring hanging down from the center of the nose.  It bugs me and depending on the ring it sometimes looks like she needs to wipe her nose.  I don't mind the thin rings on either side of the nose, that look is cool to me.  

IMO any girl who looks good with a lot of ink, piercings, nose rings or whatever would look even better without them, but I don't consider them deal breakers, unless of course they take it to excess and it takes them 90 minutes to get through airport security due to the five pounds of metal they have on/in their body for example. lol

The nose rings are mildly gross, but I can close my eyes and ignore them if needed.  After all, I normally am not playing with a girl's nose.  But nipple piercings are another story entirely.  I love boobs, what guy doesn't?  I love to caress them and tweak them and suck on them.  But if she's got barbells in her nips I'm afraid I'm going to accidentally hurt her and that's a huge turnoff for me.  

I don't have much experience with nipple piercings, but I think they are hot.  I was  hanging out with a female friend of mine and during our bar hopping we came to in tattoo and piercing shop.  She expressed wanting to have her nipples pierced again, but couldn't afford them at that time.  Well, I afforded them for her and got to watch the process while holding her hand.  She got basic barbells.  Unfortunately, I didn't get to really play with her tits much later that night.  Too soon after the piercing.   One of these day I'll give them a proper playing with, but until then I have some photos.

The one good thing about tats and piercings is that it is tell ... an indicator that these chicks are promiscuous (as much as they try to deny it.)

And guys are aware of it.  They did studies of how men approach women with and without tats/metal.  Chicks with tats/metal get approached twice as often as those without.  

They don't really change the way she looks but they enhance the way a BBBJ feels.

i am in full agreement with you and GaGa.  Not a deal breaker but not a preference.  Like GaGa, I believe if they look good with piercings or ink, then they would look a hundred times better without them.  I am a little finicky about the ink too.  I've seen some women with sleeves that I thought were good (Bar maid in Philly had the most incredible one I've seen), bit most are junk.  The good ones usually have an emotional inside story to them, which is why I always ask if there is a story to the tattoo.  If they just say, I felt like it then that also gives me some insight into their personality.

They are not a deal breaker but those other nose piercings are, the ones on that skin between nostrils.

That info works out in my favor; a guy who doesn't like the tattoos and piercings. If fewer men make advances in the women who don't have those things readily visible, them those are the very women who are more likely to appreciate a respectful guy approaching them and in turn, more likely give positive responses to bring approached.  
Also, since it's been at least a decade, maybe a decade and a half since the widespread tattooing and piercing craze has skyrocketed to all walks of life, women who don't follow those trends are becoming the lower numbers of the common denominators.  That leads to them having made a conscious decision to not take part in what the masses do. These women are rare gems in a sea of commons pebbles on the beach.

No matter how small, how "tasteful", or where they are placed, I have never in my entire life  seen any tattoo on any attractive woman that enhanced her attractiveness. By the same token, I have never seen a less attractive, a less-than-attractive, an unattractive woman, or a plain Jane become more attractive based on any tattoo. Does it show that I am anti-tattoo?

Maybe the marrying kind.  Might not be the promiscuous kind.

The only plus side I see with girls having tats and piercings is that they’re usually easier to get into bed. Commenting on piercings or tattoos is a no brainer of an opener.  That said, I don’t think they’ve ever made a girl more attractive to me.
