Life's a bitch, Sweet, until you take her BCD.  Then she's a whore.  And I love whores.

So I just spent nearly a half hour writing a thoughtful long post in response to one of the recent threads here.  Hit the POST MESSAGE button and the entire thing disappeared.  WTF?  damn!

This is not a new problem. Your TER login can time out if you take too long without clicking anything.

I compose my longer messages in Notepad on my PC 1st. Then I cut and paste them into the TER page.

Especially if I get a phone call right in the middle of composing a post.

What I do is anytime I have taken more than a few minutes writing a post I will copy the message before hitting POST MESSAGE and that way if I have timed out all I have lost was the subject line and I can simply paste the body of the post onto a new reply.

Yes, I have lost more than a couple of posts EXACTLY like you did before I started taking precautions. I know just how irritating it can be.

I whined about this problem to my clever wife who suggested exactly the same thing as you.  Guess I should start dong what the smart people do!
