About 4 weeks ago I got a 1st time message that said: "hi there" The profile is a 43 year old in LA. Her only pic of a dirty blond-haired woman is cropped from her left eye, under large sunglasses,  to her shoulder and doesn't include her nose. So you can only see her jaw line.  Her profile text is minimal:  one general statement about being happy and no drama.  

 
As you might surmise, she is far outside my preferred sweet spot for POT's, so naturally I ignored her message.  

 
Today she sent a new message: "why you don't respond to me"  

 
Now I try to be a helpful fella.  Although I have no interest in her, I took time to craft a detailed response that was, well not mean, but candid, as a friendly gesture of coaching to a presumptive noob in the Sugar Bowl. Here's what I sent:  

 
"Hello. The reasons I have not replied to your message are:
1. You have no information in your profile to tell me who you are and what you are like
2. Your picture gives me no idea what you look like
3. Your 1st message had no useful info. I have no idea why you contacted me or what you are looking for

 
Please consider adding more text & pics in your profile so potentially interested people can get a better sense of who you are, and then they can better decide if they may want to date you.

Her almost immediate reply: "Dude! you need a reality check !"    
Note that now she chooses to actually use punctuation. LOL

 
And then she blocked me.

Now again, this doesn't bother me.  I'm not losing any sleep over it. My one the other day starting sending multiple long, increasing angry texts after the kind of critique you gave She finally got exasperated with my silence and ended with “weirdo”. She had sent like 15 texts in total (not including the last one) spanning multiple screens is and I only two. My last word was “lol”.

and I simply cannot imagine what planet they live on or what weirdo expectations they have.  I too have made the attempt to give them meaningful advice and received mean spirited bullshit for my efforts.  I'm not as thick skinned as you are Herb, it always hurts my feelings.  What can you do, there are crazy deluded people in this world.  As for the ones who expect you to delete your profile and be exclusive, I actually have a very open, ENM, poly relationship with my wife at home.  I've considered adding that info on my profile, but for various reasons I have not done so. Therefore I try to make it absolutely clear in my first few messages that I am not seeking nor offering anything exclusive.  That has to be ok with them.  In fact, many are really relieved and pleased to hear it cuz they want to enjoy the variety of several SDs and would rather be honest about it.  So there's an upside.  Anyway y'all, try to avoid the crazies and keep on finding the gems!

I am also ENM and go back and forth including it in my profile. When I include it, my reply ratio goes way down.
When I don't include it in the profile, replies go way up but the first messages when I bring it (because I am Ethical) it definitely scares most away. I try explaining ENM but the GPS just don't get it.

Ahhhh.... now I understand sympathyforthedevil's comment about +30 yo SB's having higher incidence of GPS syndrome. My first month in the bowl and its amazing to me that the "asks" from 30-40 yo SB's as a group have been consistently higher than the 20 somethings, which objectively makes ZERO sense. I posted about this before and I can confirm it again. The main giveaway is the username made up of two real words stuck together with thefirst and second word capitalized. They're clearly computer-generated. Once you go into the profile you will notice a whole bunch of pictures but none of them will give away the location such as background or style of building. Or you may be able to recognize that they are definitely not in your area

If you decide to start chatting you will get one word answers or very short ones and sometimes they are nonsensical in relation to your previous comments. The best way to out them is to refer to a local place or ask them what part of town they are in and their answer will usually give it away. Just as an example you could ask what part of l.a. are you in and the answer would be something like near Dodger Stadium.

They will pick a location out of Google Maps which you may know is an industrial or business district. Things like that

If you keep the conversation going and engaged I think maybe eventually a human takes over because that's when the scammers kick in
