Not sure if this belongs here or in the newbie section, but I figured LG could give me some advice.

So I'm 25 and have only kissed let alone had sex with one girl. I was with the girl for 8 years and we broke up about 6 months or so ago. I've decided to finally buckle down and finish my masters and if I've learned anything from my relationship is that I can't be in one while in school. The issue is I still have my needs and my hand can only do so much. Plus I'm guessing hobbying would be a good chance to get used to being with other women and getting comfortable with other women. I'm leaning more towards giving it a shot than against the idea.

I just wanted to get some opinions. Also, is there anything I should be looking for in a provider give my situation, or should I say anything when making an appointment.

We have had several questions like yours on this board.

MY OPINION on this is that yes, you can consort with paid ladies, as long as you understand that they offer no substitute for emotional relationships.

What should you look for in a provider? That depends entirely on what you want. Tall, short, skinny, fat? Blonde, redhead, brunette? Intelligent, bubbly, suave..the list goes on. Read the reviews very carefully and choose according to your wishes.

Do you need to "say" anything specific? No, not really. Just be aware that some providers will not see gentlemen under 30, and that the less screening requirements a provider has, the less of a professional she may be. Be prepared to present identification and some form of proof that you are not a member of law enforcement. Then again, I assume your grad school attendance in your chosen field can be verified, so you should have no trouble there.

This can be a rather complicated but enjoyable hobby.

Also, follow the various boards on here, especially the Newbie Board and this one as they contain excellent information and much food for thought.

Also, know that this hobby can be very alluring and difficult to break away from.

Based on the feel I get from your post, I will recommend that you proceed cautiously. If you've still got some work to do dealing with the breakup, you might find some issues coming up because of your hobbyiing experiences that you may be unprepared to deal with.

Good providers are extraordinarily adept at intuiting what their clients need and assuming that role. That can lead to some intense encounters and make it difficult to keep thinking clearly if you're head's not on straight.

Pay for play can be very rewarding...  both in physical pleasure and maintaining & honing skills.  
That said, you should keep your emotions on a short least.  Having great sex with an attractive woman, stirs up the Love hormones.  This is good for protecting the women & offspring...  but violates the basic premis of NSA (No Strings Attached) sex.  It is very easy to devolupe feels.
The good providers offer what is described as GFE (Girl Friend Experience).  Some would like to assign certain acts with the term but in my opinion, it is simply the feeling one would have with a GF if only a temporary one.  Many, maybe even most, guys do have feelings for the ladies, at least the ones we choose to see more than once.  The girls are so good that it becomes impossible to know where the acting ends & reality begins.
This becomes a real risk of letting our feeling run away with us.  I do not see 100s of women...  but I do rotate a small number of Favorites with an occasional new one if I feel she's a possible contender...  
Some clients & providers do fall for each other...  but it is a course frought with peril & few relationships survive it.  You have only to scroll down the pages to read about "I've falled for a provider & I can't get up!"  Consider yourself WARNED!
