Orgasm after prostatectomy

I had a radical prostatectomy about a year ago. Shortly afterwards I was able to have a "dry orgasm" although the intensity was much reduced. Now, it is very difficult to reach orgasm by masturbation, and there is virtually no contraction of the orgasm muscles in the perineum if an orgasm is eventually reached.
Is anyone else familiar with this problem, and have any ideas on how to overcome it?

Dear mike319,

Are you having orgasm difficulties with "real, live females," or is it primarily through masturbation? If that's the case, I'd suggest staying off the joystick for 30 days and engaging with women instead.

On the other hand, if this happens regardless of the sexual stimulus, it is an unfortunate consequence of the surgery. I have attached some info from Cornell's Urology page. Most of the info was probably communicated to you pre-surgery, but it may be useful to look over one more time.

Finally, I'm not a physician, so I wouldn't be able to dispense strictly medical advice. But I often suggest entering the sexual realm of tantra. In the hands of a good practitioner, you may reach sexual heights that previously were hidden to you.

It's worth a try, what do others say,

Dear LG,

Thanks for the swift reply and the helpful, but not encouraging information from Cornells' urologists The problem is with any sexual stimulus, and is not due to excessive frequency. I was counselled about some, but not all, sexual consequences of radical prostatectomy before the surgery. I had a "nerve sparing' procedure, but half expected a diminution (but not almost complete loss) of orgasmic intensity with the loss of ejaculate. The difficulty in reaching orgasm was totally unexpected. Viagra plus penile injection therapy has restored potency (incidentally, I would encourage anyone shying away from penile injection therapy to look again. It sounds much more painful than it actually is. The needle is barely thicker than a hair and the discomfort no more than a mild pinch).

I started penile injection therapy shortly after surgery as suggested in the Cornell article. Erectile performance is OK.

I have been wondering whether anal stimulation at the same time as penile stimulation might be helpful, but have not yet tried it. I will let you know.

Given the frequency of this surgery I am sure that others have run into these problems before, and that male ingenuity has previously found a way of dealing with them - so perhaps others will speak up.

Your suggestion of a Tantric approach is intriguing and the outcome very different and interesting. The nearest practitioner I can find is 150 miles away but I am going to explore and see where it leads.

I am not just going to accept these problems as untreatable

you find a tantric specialist who knows what she's doing, you may be able to have some fun, despite the procedure you had to endure.

I have not had prostatectomy surgery and I have the same problem. I get an erection but it is very hard to cum. Drives my provider crazy!!!Might be a good idea to stay off the stick. Thanks for the advice

Try having your ATF... or somw other provider gently insert a prostate vibrator into your rectum... it doesn't have to go in more than a couple inches, and have her turn it on at the time you are about to reach orgasm... I think that will help!
