So just set up a M&G with a 23 yr old Latina (originally from El Salvador) who lives close by - maybe 4 miles - but does not have a car. I suggested we meet at a Starbucks in between that has opened their outdoor seating area with socially-distanced tables.

She accepted and mentioned she could take an Uber to the meet.  And I, in turn offered to cover the Uber costs when we meet (did not offer to pay ahead because - no.). Now some of you may see this as a red flag; is she really going to show, will she tap me for some huge amount well in excess of the actual Uber costs, will I have to shuttle her around town if we get into an arrangement, etc.).  But I see it as a positive in this case, once I also consider what else I know (ok, what she has told me) about her.

She lives alone, in a rented room of a house. She has a low-pay job and isn't really broke - covers rent, food and phone - but could use help with school costs.  She says she's interested in a similar career area as me - this before I told her my background - and although she has a degree from college in El Salvador, she needs to go to community college here to get into the US system and eventually pursue an advanced degree.  Plus she's petite and cute.

Note that what she did not say or ask me is just as important to my evaluation of her. She never brought up anything that could point to GPS. She says she's never had a SD before.  When I suggested we could meet a few times a month and I would help her with some bills when I see her, she actually asked me "how would you help me with my bills? I kinda just pay rent haha and my phone. With school I guess it would be more complicated."

So, certainly sounds like a sugar-noob - without a car.

So back to the car. She really lives close to me. So if I need to pick her up for a sugar date, it's no problem.  In fact it probably means I can worry less about her showing up at my place uninvited and unexpected. LOL

My view would be different if she lived further away, of course. I'd never sign up to pick her up or pay Uber rates if she was 10-25 or more miles away.

So what's your experience with this. Is a no-car SB an immediate no-go? Or do you say "Ride or Die." :p

I think young college age SB's without cars are common.   If they have parents who can afford to buy them cars, they probably are less likely to be SB's for money.  

I'd have to guess that "distance from home (parents)" is a car factor, too. Many students get to use the 2nd or 3rd car or some other family clunker. If going to college within, let's say, a 4 hr drive from home, no problem. If a NYer is going to school in CA, the 3000 mile drive to get the car there (and 3000 miles back again) might not be worth it.

"But Daddy, how am I supposed to get to my SD dates?" is probably not a good argument to bring up. Especially if she is supposed to be STUDYING, not sugar dating.

My personal experiences with picking up a SB at her place have not been bad, more annoying. None were ever ready on time, even though we set a time and I sent a quick text when I was maybe 3 to 5 minutes away and when I arrived. For a first meet the SB has always said she’ll come out to me and I hate waiting in car. Never know about nosy neighbors. Also, I consciously remain aware this could be a potential scam to rob me/steal my car, so I have my head on a swivel watching for anyone who may be approaching. So far nothing bad has happened.

I've sugar dated at least a dozen girls who go there, and none of them have had a car. I don't mind at all, if I have to put them in a cab or an uber the cost is so low as to be negligible.  

An SB being on time is pretty rare.  

I had a local SB a while back who was not in college, just a local down and out girl struggling to survive.  She got rides from friends and asked me to pick her up/meet her at different places all over town! I never knew where she'd be, but it's a small town and she always showed up promptly.  We'd have a nice romp in the RV and then I'd drop her off wherever she needed to go next.  Actually, now that I'm thinking of it, I had 2 local car-less SBs who did that with me. So it worked well, and I wouldn't consider it a red flag the next time a SB says she does not have a car.  Big contrast however with my longest term current SB.  We've been dating for 2 years and she is a serious car nut.  I think she had 3 cars at one time.  Last time she showed up in her Subie WRX/STI with a new engine, turbo and intercooler.  Hot car, hot girl!

I have a SB with no car and unfortunately lives almost an hour from me. But with almost no traffic these days not much of an issue. She is able to host so that adds to the flavor. Because of the shut down there has not been much of a discussion of going out and about. Don't mind the drive too much usually with a smile on my face on the way back.

No. not too gross, haha.  We did not actually christen her car but we certainly have made excellent use of my trusty ole RV.  Can't tell you how many times I've had to wash the bedding!  Doing the laundry with a smile on my face!
