I'm back in the hunt after a long-term thing ended, and things look pretty grim out there.

My admittedly unscientific assessment of the pool on Seeking in the DC area:  

Roughly 50 percent are clearly scam or fake profiles, you don't even need to open them to see that. Usually one glam pic and very thin text about finding a "sincere" man or something like that. It used to be mostly Asians but more varied now.

Another 20 percent look genuine but when you message it turns out they are fake or want to sell "content," or sometimes they just want your phone number (never give a real one) to deliver spam.

Of the remainder, I'd say 20 percent are too unattractive (for me) or are clearly pros, without much class.

That leaves 10 percent -- and a good number of these want cash for an M&G or are looking for $800 to $1k per meet, and are nowhere near that value IMHO. So it's a very tough road right now. Probably 2-3 percent worth pursuing. And my guess is that due to the factors above, there is probably a very high male-female ratio when you're just counting the good ones -- contrary to the overall stats.

Secret Benefits isn't much better. While I see more profiles that seem to be from genuine local girls, they almost never respond. Or sometimes they respond with a 'thank you' for the compliment and disappear.

Does the situation look similar for others? It seemed better a couple of years ago.

I find many pig-butchering scams on Seeking these days: 30-something White women pretending to be small business owners. They are never available to meet because they are always out of town but want to chat about investment opportunities eventually. Many content sellers also. I bought a few to show my good faith but quickly realized they never had any intentions to meet in person.

It's hard to find a genuine SB who is probably a 6 at best and they want 400 at least,  that's assuming you can even find one — and the 8's want 600 minimum. One asks for 2K. She is a 9 but 2K? GTFOH! The funny thing is she then texted me to try to sell me weed and shrooms. LOL. I guess no one bites at her 2K ppm.

It's even worse on Seeking's sister site What's Your Price. Most POTs want half of the offers upfront. At first, I was naive enough to send 50 bucks a few times but they went radio silent quickly. They realize 50 is pocket change for us so they can get away with it.

I still have three SB's in my rotation so I will stick with them for now. It's a cesspool on Seeking and WYP.

A month ago I started keeping a log of contacts I've mad on Seeking. I've reached out to 150 highly curated POTS that are within 50 mile radius of me. I'm not shotgunning, I actually must be attracted to them and I've skipped over obvious fake profiles. Since it's only been four weeks, I can't provide conclusive data so I will wait four more weeks and post my final results here, however, overall my actual results so far have netted 3 M&G's which resulted in 2 BCD's and both are keepers, and both are solid 7-7.5 in terms of quality @5XX ppm. I have another M&G lined up for next week that I believe is highly likely to result in a BCD, since we've exchanged multiple photos and had prelim convos on all the essentials. I've spent roughly two hours per day on curating, texting and logging.      

I have basically given up on the DC area for seeking and SD.   Lots of fakes, lots of unrealistic expectations about money, and now those who get past that seem to think of the activity as a one-shot thing. I had a sugar date a few weeks ago that -- despite my saying we would be together for several hours and do dinner in between -- lasted one round and about 30 minutes.  There are just so many other options in NoVa that are so easy.

Sorry this got posted before I got a chance to type in the full comment — what I am saying  is the age filter I run 20-35, used to skew more towards 20s, but now I see a lot more in their 30s, they aren’t necessarily all ugly (although many are on the thicker side for my taste even if a pretty face) — but somehow the few reasonably hot civilians (not pros) Among this cohort — have their expectations sky high  

Maybe it’s all these white collar layoffs in CA who knows but they are trying to maintain a cash flow that ain’t happening unless they are super hot, or want to do this the old fashioned way (escorting)

But I'm not sure the actual percentages in my area (north Los Angeles) skew as high in the undesired categories.  

 
As netnoy and Adonis48 suggest, the gems are out there, but you have to do a lot more mining through the rubble to find them.  

 
I have to wonder who at Seeking, especially now that Brandon has returned, is doing the revenue per account, and related data analysis.  This trend of overall quality loss, even in the face of presumed volume gains, must be manifesting in the KPI's for the site.  

 
Bottom line for me: It's still the best resource, even if it's a declining resource.

You are pretty spot on regarding DC.  You overlooked the percentage that set something up, just to Ghost day of.

1-2 percent max, and less than that after flaking.

As mentioned, tons of professional options, and of course recycling (though that is another can of worms).
