list of scams

Let's get a list going of the kinds of scams we are seeing on Seeking, I can start

1. Pig butchering: This has been discussed widely so I won't go into details, but it's a long con (mostly using Asian women) designed to lure you into crypto or other fake investments.

2. Advance fee scam: Lots of variations on this. One I see freqently is this (it has to be copied from someone's playbook): I want to be completely honest. I’m not able to meet up until Friday due to having my son. I could genuinely use any help at all in the meantime. Or: I do $400 for a first time  intimate fun meet ! But I definitely get a  $100  advanced off it so I truly know you’re serious

3. Picture sellers: I’m seeking a FWb, SD, and NSA arrangements, however before we meet up, I'll share few sexual photos and videos of me for a small amount. (I honestly can't see anyone in his right mind paying for pictures like this)

4. The $50 college girl scam: It could be another amount and it could be anyone but these seem to be more genuine GND profiles, discussing a real arrangement and agreeing to a date at a time and place and then saying atthe last minute, "BTW I need a token by cashapp beforehand" (Variations on this are the nail scam, babysitter scam. If they won't accept the girft in person it's a scam)

There are more, I'm sure. And I'm not counting the ones asking for PPM  for coffee meets, which is crazy but at least up front.

1.  Can you cover my gas or Uber there?  Offer to send the Uber, they will never agree
2. Sign up for the chat site
3. I only use Whatsapp or telegram.  I think this is the pig butcher but I'm not sure
4. I'm traveling now but will be back in a few months/weeks.
5. On video chat you can barely hear.thrm and then it disconnects after a few minutes.  It's almost always a pre-recorded video to make you think she's real and then send money or buy pics.

And let's not forget the old cash 'n' dash scam employed by both escorts and SBs.

Demanding cash up front (if ppm) and then running out the door with it.

I've sent more than one girl away without cash when she attempted this. But, I also have a very vivid memory of a 22yo redhead clutching my envelope of $$$ and running down the hallway of my upscale hotel shouting, "I've got your money!" Painful.

In the past year or so, I have been getting messages from White women in their mid-thirties.  They all claim to be small business owners who either live out of town and come to DC often for business or live in DC and go out of town for business often.  Invariably, they cannot meet right away but want to chat by texting. They all claim to have been in Asia since I am Asian. After a few texts, they start mentioning they invest in something such as Crypto Currency. At that point, I know it is a scam so I block them right away. I am even not sure they are White. I have sent/received messages to/from some profiles that post pictures of White women. They then reveal they are Asians and send me their "real" photos when we start communicating. I am pretty sure they are scammers also.

Total, obvious red flags.  As soon as they mention crypto, I'm outa there!

They also mention forex or gold options. They all seem to own a salon or a designer handbag store. They usually have a rich uncle who is an expert in trading.

A good article on how this scheme has expanded beyond southeast Asia and is now prevalent in many regions. Presumably it's not just Seeking but other dating apps and even those flaky text messages everyone gets.
One thing to point out is that it's not only scamming victims like us but forcefully exploiting a lot of people
