I was going through my messages and I noticed this comment at the bottom of what was once a DM conversation

This member has deleted their profile per the GDPR. Unfortunately, that means we are no longer able to display your message history with them.

Has anyone else experienced this?

SA has to be complaint with privacy regulations in every country they operate.

Thanks for the link.  Does SA's message mean that the SB has requested erasure?

Article 17 — Right to erasure
Read GDPR Article 17

Or it could mean that SA received a complaint that the profile was somehow violating regs. No wat to tell.
.
But one other thought occurs to me: It's possible that the profile originated from a user in the EU, or was viewable by users in the EU (who may have submitted the report/complaint). There are different and complex privacy regs in every country or major region and GDPR is specific to EU.

To request erasure under GDPR a person needs to be a EU citizen or have data held in the EU. For example if SA has any severs in Ireland through AWS, MS or other services that put servers there, then anyone could request erasure.

It may also be the generic response when anyone asks for their info to be deleted. As HC stated above there are a number of different regs. but the EU GDPR is one of the most detailed, stringent and well known.
