Back in the late 70's the first home VHS and BETAMAX players were made available for consumers.
Betamax was the better-quality tech. But VHS became the most popular format as measured by the number of players and rented/tapes sold each year. Why? Because there was more content published on VHS. And most of that early content was porn.
With the release of (CD's, which led to) DVD's a similar story unfolded. Porn on CD's, then DVD's drove DVD player sales until there was sufficient "critical mass" of devices in homes for the non-porn movie studios to commit to publishing DVD movies for rent, and ultimately sales.
And with the arrival of commercial use of the internet, porn again pushed the tech into homes. (There were other factors in Internet adoption, of course, including access through desktop PC's, and most importantly, online payment tech.)
So it should not be surprising that a platform like PH has one of the highest levels of traffic in the world. But it's still a "Holy shit!" moment to see the data.
And doing some quick math from your post, I think it's also interesting that the average viewer watches 2.7 videos per "session." What can we infer from that datum? If we assume the average video is about 12 minutes long, then the average viewer needs to jerk off for 32.4 minutes to cum.
Now we all have a great factoid we can use at bars and parties! Please use the power of this factoid gift only for good. Never for evil. :P

I was under the impression that Pornhub produces a relatively tiny fraction of the porn that it hosts.
It is rather like MTV, back when MTV showed music videos. Its purpose is to promote work produced by others.
What a great business!
To learn more about Pornhub, there's a documentary on Netflix that's pretty good it's called Money Shot. It examines the company from opposing points of view. It may appear to be a great business but there are downsides, including scandals involving allegations of child pornography and the use of intentional computer virus programs. To my knowledge, the content is entirely user created, though some of their business partners are porn studios that upload professionally produced porn. Pornhub makes money from the advertising it sells as well as its premium membership plans.
Here's a recent article on the company and the challenges it faces.
