I have heard about the use of dental dams for protection (of both parties) during Cunnilingus. Do people use it?
Is it effective?
Does it come in the way?

1. Yes, they use it

3. Depends - it doesn't feel all that natural but it does the job. Some people may feel it more than others. And if you're allergic to latex, forget it.
Some people will use a piece of Saran wrap but obviously that has problems of its own. I have attached a link so that you can see what it's all about.

The female condom can be used during cunnilingus and is already in place for intercourse. Very effective and I'm not sure why it has NOT been discussed as a use in the references that I've seen.

I have used a female condom that covered the clitoris and labia majora.
The brand is FC2 and it covers the labia and the clitoris.
It's true that the covering of the clitoris requires that it be held there (just as a dental dam or other barrier) but since it was already in place it made the transition to intercourse very simple and natural.
