How much should you budget when starting out with pay per meet (from various comments this seems the best way to start)?

There are hundreds of posts here that answer all of your questions thoroughly. Please spend some time reading them. I suggest you use the search tool to find the most relevant posts 1st, then take a deeper dive and see what you can find out before asking us to spoon feed you. As in the sugar bowl, your best results will happen when you take the time to research and verify first. If you still have questions after you do some homework, you will find many experienced people here who will help you.

I will tell you I spent a couple of hours over the past week and change reading the most recent posts before I posted. Past experience had taught me that noob questions like mine get asked often enough in any forum that somebody refers to a specific thread or two that covers the basics about every week.  

But I will search as you suggest. You guys use a lot of seemingly sugar specific terms and three letter acronyms that I’m still figuring out, too.

Use urbandictionary.com It will answer and provide you with tons of info on the latest-greatest terms and acronyms. I'm kinda out of touch with the young crowd so, I appreciate the input on this site.

Best sites?  Countless posts on this board reference SA as the best.  It's the only site I've used, and I've used it successfully.  It's expensive, so best to be ready to dive in when you pony up.  You can lurk for free and get a feel for it, but won't be able to read or send messages.  
Initial meets?  Happy hour, or Starbucks.  I suggest both, let them pick.
How much to budget?  Same as with pros:  what is your budget, and stick to it.  
Best advice I can give?  You'll be played by some.  The sob stories are endless.  Hang onto your gift until you're BCD.  And yes, PPM is the way to go.  DO NOT use that acronym or any words that even hint at it in communication on SA.

My suggestion, besides reading as many old threads as you can is to keep your questions down to one or two per post and make them as specific as possible. Just like on  the Newbie board there are a handful of VERY helpful veterans here, but all of us/them have heard most of the questions you are going to have for us likely dozens of times, so while it's a new question for you, most of us have answered the very same question over and over again, so please forgive us if every once in a while you get a RTFM (Read The Fucking Manual) response.

 
To answer one of your questions, or at least to reinforce the answer you have already received, SEEKING.COM is by far the best site of it's kind, there really is no second best. Yes, you will still have scammers taking shots at you, but there are literally thousands of legitimate POT SBs (Potential Sugar Babies) in virtually every major city in the world listed on that site.

Seeking (SA) has a time limit model ... you pay for a certain time period.  In that case you have to blast to many potential SB's to get your money's worth before time runs out.  Another I have used is Secret Benefits.  There you buy a certain number of initial contacts.  Once you contact an SB you can continue to correspond with her.  There isn't a time limit, but you shouldn't blast indiscriminately because you chew through your subscription too fast.

I would say I got more results on Seeking (SA.)  But I did get at least one nice win on Secret Benefits.

You should be asking yourself what level of open honest communication you plan to have with your SBs.  Figure this out in advance so you are not caught off guard.  Some experienced SDs here will tell you never to talk about other SBs you are dating.  I feel strongly the opposite.  I always tell my SBs that I am not seeking nor offering anything exclusive, that I will almost certainly have others in my life and assume that they will as well. I find many benefits to thsi type of openness which I can go into in more detail if asked.

I started with SB and quickly found a lady I've been seeing for about 6 weeks. Per GaGa advice I joined SA and although the database is much larger but I'm getting most of my messages from afar. I also found that many of the posts the ladies only show one pic at best. I continue to receive 2-3 messages a day from SB. So for me I've have a better experience from SB. Also most of the messages I receive have been local as the message to SA have been very distance.  I also like the paid per message and after that all for free at SA you pay a high monthly allowance for unlimited put for only 30 days.  JMHO

My initial foray into the Bowl through Seeking was a miserable failure.  I had no idea how to approach SB's and arrangements until I stumbled onto this little corner of TER.  I've learned so much and hopefully have contributed as well.  Some tips to get you started:
-Arrangements are a negotiation and you have the upper hand
-If you have patience and are kind, you will meet (and fuck) some amazing young women
-Unfortunately, there are numerous BSC (bat shit crazy), flakes, unreliable, GPS (homework assignment, look it up), etc...Just walk away
-Once you establish a dialogue with a POT SB, move off the Seeking platform and communicate via text or email.  If you are chasing the young set, texting is essential for communication.  
-Trust your spidy senses

As fast as possible, I also get them off the SA site to a text app, or google voice for texting, etc.  Be witty, be erotic, but tasteful, then as it heats up push the boundaries a little to make it clear you want a NSA good time and will be PPM and looking for a recurring relationship because you are so busy at work making money you have no time to date or have fun, etc.  I also like the idea of letting them know you have a GF or wife so a seed is planted why after the first couple of dates, you moved on and am busy.  

While 98% of the SB's I've met are willing to just come over without any prior coffee date, I will say that a few times I wanted to meet them first because I thought they were too good to be true.  I met them, gave them $50 for meeting me, and they were all just as I hoped -->hot, sexy and fun.  I should probably stick to that formula to avoid the ROB's, but so far even the I'll be right over girls have worked out for me.

I've head that the difference between an expert and an amateur, is that the expert has failed more times than the amateur has ever tried.
