An incipient thread on the GD board has prompted my question.  There are so many stories of attractive celebrities --athletes, film stars, etc -- who can have their choice of GFs, groupies, and so on, getting involved with providers.  Is this nothing more than the fact, that we all recognize, that an attractive provider can compete with anyone?  I think there's more to it than that.  LG, what else is going on in the minds of those who can have anyone they want?

I don't think this needs to be overcomplicated. A celebrity can pretty much treat the world like his oyster, and available [and sometimes unavailable!?!] women like his rightful harem.

My experience with male pre-andropausal celebrities - and I do have some, both clinical and personal - is that there is a certain level of narcissism operating within these men. Many believe that they can have ANYONE, paid or not. Any attractive woman, provider or civilian, is fair game, since it's basically about short-term mating. Free or paid makes very little difference when you're making millions of dollars to spend.

Of course, this is not to imply that ALL male celebrities consort with providers; I don't have any stats, but I doubt that celebs have higher rates of paying for sex than the average unknown dude out there.

So just think of it: you make millions per year, you are reasonably attractive, famous and women throw themselves at you. You have the opportunity to bed anyone - why not a provider once in a while? And yes, Charlie Sheen DID say that he paid them to go away - that's not so hard to understand, is it?

As to your statement/question, "an attractive provider can compete with anyone" - well of course she can. If money is no object, why should any of it matter? It's all about the opportunity. When men have the opportunity to engage in short-term mating at a low cost, they do it, whether the woman throw herself at the man, or he makes one phone call to get exactly what he wants when the mood strikes.
