Did you measure it erect or flaccid?
The results from three studies of penis size where the measurements were taken in a laboratory setting give the following ranges:
Average penis length (flaccid/not erect): from 3.4 inches to 3.7 inches (8.6 cm to 9.3 cm)
Average penis length (erect): from 5.1 inches to 5.7 inches (12.9 cm to 14.5 cm)
Average penis girth (circumference when erect): from 3.5 inches to 3.9 inches (8.8 cm to 10 cm)
OTOH, We also have to take ethnicity into consideration. Males of East Asian ethnicity are slightly smaller than males with Scandinavian ethnicity; the stereotype of the African-American penis being the largest also does not hold true.
Men have always had concerns with penis size, much more so than women. Personally, I believe that penis size is very unimportant in the larger scope of things, punnily speaking 
. It's how you use it that matters the most. Of course, if you are huge to the point of always having to be careful with your big stick, it could get a little bothersome. If the woman is not completely lubricated from excitement or simply has a long cervix that dips down, a large penis can create pain if going at it with force. In that sense, maybe the bias would go toward smaller rather than larger. On the other hand, plenty of women get excited enough to accommodate a big baguette. It's all very personal and very indvidual!
