I'm planning ahead for a trip to a major city with a large SB pool. I'll be there for a couple of days and hope to set up one, or possibly two, dates while I am in town. For whatever it's worth to this group, I thought I would share my success or failure. I've appreciated all the comments and advice from others in this group and hope my travel experiment will be helpful, or at least entertaining.

I started by writing a detailed introductory message about me, my travel plans, and what I'm looking for. I tailored a few of the messages based on what I read in the profiles, but for the most part the messages were the same. I then spent a fair amount of time searching for POTs in the target city. I didn't have a pre-determined number of POTs to approach, but since this is largely a numbers game, I figured 20 would be a minimum pool to start with. I ended up sending messages to 26 POTs. Here's a breakdown of what has happened since I sent those messages:

I may send more later, as I still have lots of time before my trip. But based on the response rate so far (see below), I likely will not need to send more.

POTs who have read my message: 16
I targeted "recently active" POTs, because I'm playing more of a short game and don't have time to wait for POTs who are not actively on the site and who do not frequently check messages.

POTs who have responded: 8
50% (8/16) of those who have read my message have already responded. That seems like a good response rate, since I'm not proposing a long-term arrangement. And there's still 10 POTs have yet to read my message, so there may be more responses.

Positive responses: 7
7 of the 8 who have responded so far have been positive. I have already worked out an arrangement with one of them (probably a pro/semi-pro) and am actively messaging with the other 6.

Less positive responses: 1
One responded with a completely unreasonable request, so I countered with a much more modest number. I doubt this one is going anywhere.

"I am not a prostitute" responses: 0
So far no one has sent an angry response. I figured I would get a few of those, but so far none.

I'm open to any suggestions anyone may have to improve my odds, but I'm pleased with how things are going. I'll send updates if anything interesting develops.

Thanks for the post and info. I tried to incorporate SA into a recent trip to Vegas. The short term nature of my trip made a "miss" too big a risk. In a town with so many great professional choices, i went with the sure thing. It is nice to have your data and your updates. They may encourage me to dive in to the SB market on my next trip

It is a numbers game and you are playing the numbers. Good job.  Last time I traveled I sent out many messages also, probably over 30.  I was straightforward in letting them know I'd only be in town a short time and delicately made it clear I'd want to get intimate with them.  Wound up with 3 who said yes, but due to my time limitations only had one date.  But what a spectacular date it was!  Can't wait to return to her city.  

Right now I am sending lots of messages to SBs in a city just one short plane ride away from me.  I have no reason to go there except to sample the local talent.  I already have 3 who say let me know when you'll be in town.  Time to make a plane reservation (and find a local pro as backup!)
