Hi folks. This evening on the ten o'clock news KOB-TV4 ran a story about sugar dating, Seeking Arrangement and the college sugar dating scene. It was surprisingly even handed and not sensationalized. They raised the issue of whether sex was involved and interviewed a spokesperson for SA who explained that it's like any dating site where 2 consenting adults get together. Sometimes sex happens. Then they went and interviewed a prosecutor from the attorney general's office who said this does not sound like transactional prostitution. He did not seem concerned about it at all.
a point for our side. I think this has long been the unspoken attitude of LE with regards to the sugar bowl, but its nice to hear someone from the LE side verbalize it publicly.
It should also be indicator to any working girls concerned about LE crackdowns that if they package their advertising to look like a SB just looking for a well-to-do boyfriend, they may be completely overlooked by LE.
I think Seeking and many of the other sites already do a great job of self policing. They have countless millions at stake and they are very aware of what has happened in the TER world of hookers, TER was once worth tens of millions of dollars, right now I bet you LTM&L could buy it. lol
I think everyone who thinks that sharing information about SB's via some kind of website like TER should think twice, three times or as many times as necessary before fucking this up for the rest of us. Right now we are flying under LE's radar and as long as we don't start getting cocky and rubbing their nose in it I think we can have several more years of fun at this, provided of course that guys (and it's mainly guys) don't start running their mouths on other sites about PPM on the sugar sites.
Your point about hookers running "soft" ads as if they are an SB looking for a rich BF is a good one, I think most of us would be able to read between the lines if we read such an ad. I would just hope that the girls wouldn't get too brazen about it and cause unwanted attention to be focused on the Sugar Bowl by LE>
Case law already has determined that a mistress is not considered prostitution. The prosecution has to establish there is no relationship whatsoever to get a prostitution conviction. For stings the hooker doesn't even exist, so it's easy to prove no relationship. Or a reverse sting where a cop comes calling on a hooker. He testifies he had no relationship. So if you aren't dealing with LE on one side of the transaction, or you couch your language around an ongoing relationship, it's very hard to get a conviction.
