This is one reason I almost always provide a Google Voice number out of the gate. At least if they are fake, they don't have my real number to spoof.

I'll add to my last post as new thread because I think it's relevant.

I posted this scam before but I just ran into it again today so I'm reposting a new version of it here.

I believe the scam in getting you to text them offline is to get your cell phone number and confirm you are a qualified potential sucker ripe for the plucking. Of course, with Seeking it's in your best interest to get offline as quickly as possible before any sugar language gets you banned, so that fact plays right into their hands.

Once the scammer/fake POT gets your cell phone number they'll confirm with a few word text, or perhaps won't confirm at all, but shortly thereafter, it may be a few hours, it may be a few days, you'll get a text from an unknown number with a message like 'Hey babe, it's Diana!' or some similar opening from someone you don't know. It won't be the POT you texted because it's a different name/number.

This is an attempt to draw you in with a scam of some sort. The idea is to engage you into sending them money.

I immediately block these numbers, I don't engage.

But this is one of the main reasons you won't hear back from some of those super hot 'babes' that look too good to be true. It's highly unlikely they were ever real to begin with.
