So we all know about the fake profiles from overseas or even US that are obvious once they are "off" in how they communicate with you - poor English or grammar, or lack of knowledge of local details
Recently I came across a couple of these in SoCal so thought would throw it out there for folks to see if they've encountered the same
I reached out first - profile was genuine looking early 20s girl next door type
Didn't give me her number right away - chatted a bit over the site and then we exchanged numbers
Area code was from Florida so I was naturally suspect. But I've had a very good SR before w a new transplant into SoCal like last y so I was willing to play along.
She also sends me a few pics upon asking - the face and body are attractive and look somewhat real life (not AI generated)
She gave me right details of where she lived in OC. What she worked as, also did back and forth over what place to pick for m&g. Seemed knowledgeable about local spots in the area she claimed she lived in
We pick a date and time and place a few days away. We check in w each other during this period - so far no red flags
Then the day before she asks me what type of dress I would like her to wear for the m&g and this is the first red flag - but it is still sort of part of her banter and very smoothly delivered
Then comes the kicker - she wants xxx for something w her car.
I give my usual reply - I will pay for Uber gas etc and then ppm once we start arrangement but then here is where she goes into some sort of "AI-generated" prose about taking a leap of faith with her that I won't regret
Now I know it's most likely a scammer so I am about to go to seeking and block her but I notice while I can see her messages, her profile is greyed out w a bar (she got deactivated ? Blocked me ? Who knows). Anyways I immediately block her on seeking and also her number.
I have seen my fair share of scammers, but none that put up so much effort and finesse till the last minute
