She is due at the end of September. She texted me yesterday asking me if I would see a seven-month pregnant woman because she is broke. Obviously, the father is not offering any financial help. He probably asked her to get an abortion and she didn't want to. She doesn't have a full-time job. The rent is getting too expensive for her so she needs to find a new place next month. I asked her if she has considered giving up the baby for adoption. She said no and that she already loves her baby before he is even born. I have no idea how she is going to manage. She said she will find a way just like all the other single moms. I really hate to tell her that she is being selfish. What about the well-being of the baby? Doesn't he deserve a nice family that can take care of him and gives him a much better future than being raised by a single mom that has no financial stability and can't even take care of herself? Millions of couples would adopt a white baby boy in a NY second. I am thinking about just giving her a PPM allowance as a gift for the baby.

...when hormones are involved.   She's not being logical or reasonable.  But then, if all young moms-to-be were more thoughtful, the human race would probably die out.  She's designed by nature to want to keep the baby, against all odds.  And we, as men who are natural caretakers, are automatically inclined to help.  Just be careful you don't get caught up in "White Knight Syndrome"!  We want to be their savior, but all too often that ends in disaster, both emotional and financial.  I'd say go ahead and give her a small gift, then cut your losses and move on.

Depending on what state she is in it could be ok or bad re child support etc

I agree she has a tough future ahead of her.  But I can't fault a mother who fights for her kiddie.
