So, been lurking on SA (and this forum) for a while, got a message / favorite / etc from a SB that I'd like to follow up. Question is this: at the top of the page, SA says "Upload a photo to communicate with members. (Upgrade Now to message without a photo! )", which kind of implies that if I upload a photo that I can communicate with other members even if I don't "upgrade" (i.e. pay).
But, from the FAQs (and common sense), it seems that a SD has to sign up and pay to be able to read and respond to messages, but if I do then I can do so without a public photo. It also seems from the FAQs that SBs can upload a photo and then send/receive messages, but SDs need to pay. So, I think the message on my screen is accurate for SBs but misleading for SDs. Have I got that right? I don't want to dig up a photo and upload it if it doesn't get me anywhere. I realize that to get more activity I should upload a photo, not asking about that, my question at the moment is just understanding the rules about what an SD has to do to be able to read and send messages. Thanks!
