About a year ago, I was tempted by the lure of the "hobby" and several here urged me to make the jump. Since then, I've seen several providers and, now that I am comfortable with it, I find I think about it all the time. So far, I have been able to control it so I don't wreck my life financially but I can see how seeing so many beautiful women that are readily available could become a problem. Are there ways of controlling one's "desire" either medicinally or otherwise?
How about an active civilian sex life? Spouse? Girlfriend?
Maybe stick to a hobby budget. If you set the rules and the parameters and know that you have something in the works on a regular, recurring basis, then maybe it will help you with keeping it under control and in check. Just a simple-minded suggestion.
Just like gambling, budget your pleasure and you will double your fun. Stay within your budget and you will avoid guilt about spending too much! Of course wealth is relative, if you have more than you can spend then go for it.
I absolutely MUST budget. Pay all your bills first. Fund the 401k, IRA... have some savings... Then play with discretionary income only. I save up my cash "pocket money"... if I play my cards right, I can hobby about once a month. If I have expenses, it might take me longer. If I should be too busy (or miss because of an illness), then I might be able to binge when I feel better. Don't do like a poster did on another board... borrowed from his retirement account for a trip to Vegas (she scammed him) & now he's stuck with figuring out how to pay it back! skb
If I have nothing booked, I find myself spending way too much time poring over ads and reviews. If I have a session booked with a special someone, even if it is a couple of weeks away, I don't feel the need to search for someone. I walk around with a satisfied feeling just knowing that she is on my calendar and I am on hers. I know when I will be able to afford a session, and I book for sometime after that date. Maybe this will work for others.
Yes, there are "ways of controlling" your sex drive medicinally - start taking high doses of progesterone and estrogen and I guarantee that your "sex drive" will be reduced, mainly because you will no longer have the testosterone levels of a normative male. This is how chemical castration works with sex offenders - is this what you want?
If you want to control your life financially, I recommend getting with a financial advisor or planner. Tell him/her that you need to establish a budget for paid sex. It is then up to you to follow his/her recommendation.
As long as you "are comfortable with it" [your words, not mine,] the behavior does not seem to be a source of distress for you. As for the reduction of sex drive, my advice is that you should consider yourself rather lucky. With over 40% of the American population sexually dysfunctional in some way, having a healthy sex drive, particularly if you are older than 50 [my guess], is GOOD AND NATURAL.

Do you have a family or not? If you have a family and a mortgage, I would suggest not spending more than 10% of your take-home pay. If you don't have any family (single-status), then spend 20% - 25% of your take home pay.
I am married but kids have moved out. I like the suggestion of making a date a few weeks in advance so that I don't continue to "shop". One problem with that is my home area doesn't have a lot of quality home gals so I normally see touring ladies and most don't post ads that early.
I try to limit myself to once per month. Funny though, if I have a "bad" date, I want to make it up and if I have a good one, I want to go back, lol. I'm in my mid 50's and blessed with tons of drive. Wife has a medical condition that prevents any predictible home fun which is how I got into the hobby.
Well saw your ladies, and you're willing to spend a bit more for quality. Have you tried Bpage? There are some cheaper ladies but provide good quality service too. And you may be able to do twice a month.
