So I recently started chatting on Seeking with a new one in my area who claims to be 18.  We moved to text, and I told her, for her safety as well as mine, we should exchange IDs when we meet for the first time.  I told her she has the right to know I am who I say I am and not hiding behind a false identity.  And I need proof she is actually over 18.  She replied saying she has her birth certificate and other documents, but has not yet gone to the MVD to get her official state ID.  This makes me wonder if Seeking actually requires new members to provide proof of age!  How did she get on the site without proving she's over 18?  Be careful out there guys!

The bare minimum today is to "selfie-verify" with a "live" pic from a phone or webcam.  

 
Your diligence is appropriate and warranted.  Showing you a copy, even a certified copy of a birth cert is useless for our needs.  Even a high school or college ID card can be problematic.  

 
But there may be other means to get closer to age verification using her social media history - if you can find it or she is willing to provide it.   If you can see posts of her at various time-bound moments in her life that may help. As an example, her high school graduation posts/pics, any posts/pics noting an enumerated birthday, or if a younger sibling can be age-verified by similar means.  

 
Not a perfect alternative, but vetting is about reducing and mitigating risk to a level you can accept. Even with a valid state ID, you can never eliminate all risk.  

 
On the other hand, the best way to totally avoid this risk could be to ask her to get her state ID before contacting you again.  She will either be motivated to get one (assuming she really "likes" you), or she will move on to another POT/victim.
