Actually, it was her idea.  I helped her with screening (not all of it, just checking references) and got a free session every month.  It was nice for a while.

And I've done a lot of bartering in other aspects. But bartering with a provider is always a trade down UNLESS you're just getting rid of something that really has no value. Like cheap booze.

The key is a win/win scenario for both parties. The girl needs to know that she is getting a fair trade since her rates are posted for all to see.  

I would consider it if it was something a) that I already wanted, and b) was comparable in price to what my sessions would be. That criteria is almost never met, so I wouldn't go looking to barter. But, if someone presented me with say, the newest pair of AUTHENTIC Louboutins, I might be so inspired!

LR used to talk about trading services for dental work, medical procedures, auto repair and yard service. Web site design and photography are common services traded for, which directly relate to the escort's business, but there are all kinds of things that can be traded. The main thing is that both sides feel they are getting a good deal. Bartering goes bad when one side feels cheated, or that they got the worse end of the deal.
I haven't personally done it (yet) because none of the providers I see have been in need of my services. However, I have bartered my services with folks outside the hobby, and it has usually been a win/win situation.  

They can really manage to be professional while bartering or negotiating with johns. For some bizarre reason, you think these things are win/lose for them. They wouldn't say yes to these offers if they felt it didn't benefit them, would they?

I'm not a professional photographer but I am an amateur.  I've had a few ladies ask me to do photo shoots for them.  I generally get discounted or free session(s) for my work.  I never ask a lady to barter for their service but if someone asks me then I'll consider it.

What is the criteria you use to determine if the bartering is going to be good for you? Also how do you know if the person that you are bartering with is honorable and beyond reproach so that you know that you are getting a good deal?

And for that very reason I detest car salesmen. Understand that I must travel to see a provider, the last thing I want to do after I've invested time and money to travel to see a lady is to take the chance of the lady thinking I'm a cheap bastard and want to talk her down off of her stated rate. If it works for you, then great have at it. I don't care to be perceived as cheap, because I'm not cheap, if it doesn't bother you, then that's great. These ladies have determined that their time is worth said amount, I feel if I try to talk them off of that then I'm saying that they aren't worth that, and if I do that then I take the chance that they will tank. I have money, I can't take it with me when I go. This is my cosen hobby and I enjoy each and every moment, why fuck it up to save a few bucks. I'm not jealous, that would imply that I try to talk a lady down from her price point and fail. Jealousy is the ugliest of emotions, I am below average in looks but I am not ugly.

There have been tons of threads about negotiating rates. This is not one of them. Who said anything about talking a lady down on her rates, or cheapening anything. A barter is a trade. A hobbyist has something a provider needs, and trades for it. A car, a computer, web design, photography, home repair, mechanic service, dental/medical services, accounting, attorney services, etc. etc. Many in the hobby do this. Many providers seek out these trades. If you don't do it or have no use for it fine, but how did you twist this thread into a rate negotiating, cheapening thread??
