... because there are some places where guys just don't want women and vice versa for good reason (and a right of free association implies a right of excluding others by whatever criteria one wishes) ... it's kinda hard for a hetero male to hobby without any females allowed.

I'd posit some theories on their motivations, but I'm too busy with useful stuff to go into it at the moment.
