It depends on the precise charge made against an accused and the State or City where the charge is made.
It even varies from place by place.
The notion that all prostitution charges are misdemeanors is a recurring bit of misinformation in this world, however.
You keep seeing people writing: "But it's just a misdemeanor!"
That simply is not true. States all could  if they chose make every aspect of prostitution a felony. That would likely pass constitutional muster.
If you have a specific place and question, look it up in the criminal code of the particular State.
You may even find the State criminal code you want online.

In a large investigation and prosecution, it is fairly easy for prosecutors to make felony charges because multiple offenses can form an enterprise pattern that fits the conspiracy and racketeering laws of a given State.
The four-plus major state and federal cases in Florida all are set up as felony prosecutions.

Interstate situations such as those covered by the Mann and Travel Acts are typically felonies.
In Virginia oral sex is a felony.
