How have "differences" made a session bad or possibly better? How have they hurt or eventually helped a TER friendship? By differences I mean race, religion, political, gender, etc.

For example, do you steer clear of anything volatile in convo in session or do you like to mix it up a bit? I'm on the Republican/Conervative side of things for the most part and my ATF is quite liberal. But we are able to share our differences quite openly and honestly and neither take offense. Of course, she's always wrong. lol.

But seriously, whether its a p4p date or a pm friendship, does anyone have any stories in this area? I look at the Politics Board sometimes and think the GD bd is tame by comparison. lol.

My story, and maybe my bud will share, is that my first contact with Swingsbothways, was, well...not good. Undertstatement. lol. We went at it. Big time. For awhile. So we wised up, decided to bury the hatchet, started to pm each other, and realized we got along just fine. Great even! (Yeah, I can hear the "Mangina" cat calls warming up in the bullpen. Glad its April 15th. Maybe that'll keep CPA off my ass at least! lol)

So if its a pm friendship or differences you have had in a session that went badly b/c of it, or a gal/guy you see regularly that you are just polar opposites...how does it work? Or doesnt it? Do you talk about it? Ignore it? Whats the deal? Leave names out if you wish. To protect the guilty of course. lol.

I've always enjoyed having discussions with people who are eager to share without being obnoxious about feeling they know it all.

So seeing providers who are intelligent and willing to disagree without being disagreeable is quite fine.

To illustrate the point even more clearly, when I was in college I was a member of a radical leftist group, but I also slept with the head of the New Jersey Young Republicans Club.

(And I mean that quite literally.  We never had sex, but she enjoyed sleeping with me.  Go figure.)

it is we shy and quiet types that you really have to keep an eye on.

By the way, I tried to respond to your PM just now, but could not as you are using an alias, or something like that.

It said "bluepillman" not found when I hit send.

Although I'm a huge fan of intense and stimulating conversation, I try my best to steer clear of controversial topics (in the hobby) like politics/religion/etc. I'm quite passionate in what I believe, very opinionated, have no problem expressing my thoughts/feelings/opinions in a frank fashion, and I'm not one to easily back down from a challenge. I DO, however, have a friend who couldn't be more different from me as far as politics and religion are concerned. Whenever he comes to town, he likes to go to dinner, and he ALWAYS brings up things that he knows will likely end up turning the conversation into a heated (yet quiet and respectful) one. I seriously think he disagrees with some things I say just for the hell of it. It makes for great foreplay when you're dealing with someone who truly understands what it means to respectfully disagree.

I made a comment to a client about "Crazy Sheriff Joe."  The client proceeded to defend Crazy Joe, which resulted in an awkward silence as I just can't fathom how anyone could defend, much less vote, for him.  I changed the subject as quickly as I could.  lol

I tend to stay away from most of the obvious differences such as politics and religion.  I've found it goes nowhere positive for me.  I got into politics once with a provider and I wanted to call her a dumb bitch and figured it had gone too far and backed it down.  Dumb bitches aren't as fun to be around if you know what I mean LOL

I much prefer a positive vibe in relationships.  Most providers have enough fun, interesting things going on in their lives to provide good conversation and a connection.  I do too so focusing on any differences can be put off

they do what they do. I am not much for the self serving, who want everyone to feel sorry for them, and I tend not to attract too many of those lol. Having worked around the globe, I will say the differences between Europe and the U.S. are astounding, but we all bleed the same. From Speech, to grooming, to the kink many crave, it's always interesting to hear what others have been through, and what makes them the people they are today.

ESPECIALLY when Im about to get laid. lol. I prefer terms like "sweet", "nice",  "beautiful" and if there's real chemistry, I might even call her "hot". But dumb b*tch? Uh....no. Avoid. Like the plague. Unless you like S&M. Even if the girl isnt into S&M. She will be when she hears that! lol.

To be honest, NO...I have never gotten into a heated debate whilst on a paid date. I generally reserve my ass kicking for guys who have NOT paid me, yet. :)

I've had enough volatile in my life.  Topics where people have chosen a reality incorporating a narrow range of views or single view as an absolute, such as “Should a woman be able to end her pregnancy?”
I avoid; my instinct is to change the subject, especially to one I'd enjoy hearing about, anything about something that adds to my knowledge. If that doesn't work I don't say anything about the topic, or I nod my head and say “I see.”

For me the world I live in is far too complex for my finite brain to handle.  I reduce complicated topics too simple concepts I feel comfortable with and base my view upon those. Right up front and center I know my view is simple, fails to account for many variables, is always imperfect.

If someone insists on talking about their view point is an absolute, their reality is perfect and therefor the only correct one, I'll question about obvious inconsistencies.  How they overcome inconsistency can be interesting at times, but mostly I want to do is force them to confront their inconsistencies.  Many times the answers lead to more and or larger inconsistencies. Their voices start approaching angry tones the deeper they search for reasons to support their Dogma.

At that point, it's no longer interesting to me, my mind starts wandering.
