I've never visit a provider in a hotel before, and I'm concerned about if I run into someone I knew or having trouble of finding her room and have to call her in the hotel.  Will it creat attention?  And does the counter receptionist stop you and ask questions like do u need any help when u walk into the hotel?

Act like you know what you are doing.  Carry a small brief case and keep walking; find the elevators, go to the correct floor, and follow the signs.

. . . Of course, when I walk past the front desk, I always cover my face with a newspaper.

:-)

Seriously, I just act like I'm staying there.

I just said I was attending a business seminar.  Fortunately it was the kind of hotel that hosted a lot of those types of things.

I know where you're coming from, I'm the same way.

My advice - You just have to fake it.

Don't worry about hotel workers - they aren't given a bounty for outing hobbyists.  Walk right past the receptionist as though you own the place.  Mentally dare her to ask you a question.  They have no idea why you're there.  If you look a little lost, so be it - it's not as though you've spent your entire life living in that particular hotel, is it? So what if you if you're not exactly sure where the elevator is?

I recently saw a provider, she gave me her room number and it was on the 20th floor or something.  The hotel was inside a large skyscraper with dozens of other businesses.  I found a bank of elevators, but they only went up to the 15th floor.  Finally ended up asking a cleaning lady to point me to the right bank of elevators.  No sweat.

Another time, the provider had a room on the 8th floor, but she told me to meet her at the elevator on the fourth floor.  I have no idea what her rationale was here.  When I got there, I gave her a call to let her know.  I then stood in front of a vending machine, going through all of my pockets, over and over again, pretending to be looking for change.  When she finally got there (*finally*), we had to share an elevator up to her floor with another couple.  I never made eye contact with either of them, but I was prepared to give them my what-the-hell-are-you-looking-at look.  The whole thing is kind of funny, in retrospect.

As far as meeting someone you know... heh, you're on your own.  Let us know how it turns out.

funny story, I rented the room and the front desk guy asks me why I'm renting a room about 5 miles from my house... LOL
I just said that I conduct interviews for work there. Nothing more said.

I manage a hotel and if one of my Front Desk Agents ever ask a "local" guest why they where renting a room.  They would be FIRED!

but I had one session where the agency told me one hotel the day before, I called from the loby to get the room, went up and .. no answer. Turns out she moved to another hotel and they didn't realize I was at the old place. You had to have a key to get the elevators to work, which is a bummer in hobbying.

My first hobby the maid parked her cart in front of the room for like 20 minutes. I was too nervous to go knock, but if it happened now, no problem.

The bottom line is the hotel staff have no incentive to rat on paying customers, unless they are causing trouble.

How about, the FBI has taken over my house to spy on the guy who lives next door.  They think he's some kind of operative for Al Kaida., but don't tell anyone, it's a secret.
