I agree with your entire post. When someone says something I find particularly compelling, I love to be able to click on their link and see who I'm reading about. Whatever you want to call it....Self promotion, good business, or otherwise, I say, add the link baby.
In regards to the post below about adding my link to everything I post. I would like someone to please explain to me why it is wrong? Why is it looked upon as self promotion? Yet with the guys the amount of reviews are added to all they post, is this a double standard? When I read something I like about a post I click on the guys reviews and look at what part of the country he is from or what kind of women he likes. It just gives me a better idea of who he is.
This is why I am not clear why it is wrong for me to add my link? If someone wants to know what i look like ......they actually have to click on it, what is the big deal?
Is there a rule somewhere?
I would like an explanation from those who took the liberty to point me out and say this was wrong. Also if it is a TER rule why have the moderators not brought it to my attention? And where is it printed?
Thank you for responding,
Kisses & Licks.......
Mara

Mara,
time and again, we have gone through this thing on this board about posting our links, aka self promotion. People have different feelings about how we SHOULD present ourselves. I am a person who finds difficulty doing self promotion, I personally prefer to simply work on the product, me. But as I come to find, in this time and day, we don't have the luxury of promoters. So little is left for the modest. Going back to GND's statement, and GND, help me out here, she encourages us to go on ahead and post our links, but to please have something to contribute. So you felt you were contributing humour, so did some others. Now Mara, even had you not posted your link, there could have been, and I've seen it, someone to tell you to go post your post on the humour board.
What to do? You will get a thousand answers. Who to listen to? Your call. I personally saw both sides of the story, although I was occupied and in no position to comment during the foray.
So bottom line, there are varied feelings on this. How do I compensate? Ooooh, I have a split personality. Seems to work for me. (sometimes, at least I hope.)
Good for you, I think people know who you are now throughout this, as well as your intentions, and we all seem to know a little more about each others' sensitivities.
Have a great weekend.
Hey Jacksonlips, just emailed you.

Hey no fair, I forgot to post my link, but then, hey, I may be criticized for not having anything worthwhile to contribute, lol.
Here goes,
SHAMELESS SELF PROMOTION.
We like having ladies participate here, and not everyone knows all the players, especially here on the National board, where ladies and gentlemen from all over the country (and the world!) come together (no pun intended, but what a wonderful thought!).
The statement I believe Felicia is referring to is at the end of the guidelines for posting ads on TER. I feel the key is the last sentence.
By participating in the discussions on TER discussion
boards, you can greatly increase your visibility and give
potential clients the opportunity to get to know you
better. You may include the link to your webpage in
messages you contribute to any TER discussion board, and
that does not count as an ad. In fact, you are encouraged
to include your link, because it helps everyone get to know
you better. Just please make those linked messages
meaningful, fun or helpful contributions.

Guidelines for Posting Ads on TER
Providers, please read the following guidelines before posting an ad on TER discussion boards:
1. Independent providers may post one ad per week. Escort
agencies may post one ad per week per city they serve.
When visiting another city, you may also post one ad per
week on that board to announce your visit. Include the
dates of your visit in the subject line of your ad.
Please help us keep it fair by reporting violations of the
limit to the local moderator or to Girl Next Door.
2. You may place your ad on any of the regional boards,
including Other Cities, that are closest to the area you
service or are touring. Porn Stars may advertise on the
Porn Star board, and TSs should advertise on the Transexual
board. Unsolicited ads are not allowed on other TER
discussion boards, including the National Discussion Board.
3. Your ad must include a link that goes directly to your
online ad or website, and your website must have your contact
information on it. Ads that do not provide a valid, working
link will be deleted. The link must work when the moderator
reads it, so please check it carefully when posting.
4. You must post your own ads. Ads posted by other parties will
be deleted. An exception would be when a lady employs
someone to do her booking and advertising.
5. Please do not write in ALL CAPS.
6. Moderators may delete ads after they expire.
TER Moderators may, at their discretion and judgement, delete any ads that, in their opinion, do not follow these guidelines.
By participating in the discussions on TER discussion boards, you can greatly increase your visibility and give potential clients the opportunity to get to know you better. You may include the link to your webpage in messages you contribute to any TER discussion board, and that does not count as an ad. In fact, you are encouraged to include your link, because it helps everyone get to know you better. Just please make those linked messages meaningful, fun or helpful contributions.
Thank you,

I like to connect a face to the comment or question. Guess its that Mind being the sexiest part thing. When both your thoughts & pictures excite; the "Shameless Promotion" worked.
Hi just want to say as a well known and woman in the business I am with MARA ON THIS MESSAGE! We do not promote ourselves just let everyone know who you are talking to.
MIA OF WESTLAKE
I missed the original discussion I think, but I gather that you've been critisized for promoting yourself by including a link to your site in every post.
I'd have to join you in being guilty as charged. But I'd make no apologies for it, none at all. I don't think we should have to apologize for our entrepreneurial instincts. There are more or less tasteful ways of promoting one's self, and more or less genuine ways of expressing one's self, and I'd like to aspire to the high end in both categories.
As a freelance writer of almost 20 years, I've worked for one single publication where advertising and editorial were strictly hands off - in other words, typically, your advertising dollar also buys you mention or quote in an article but not here - and that magazine went bankrupt. It's sad but true, altruism in the strictest sense will put you in the poorhouse for sure.

As forgetful as I am, I need the link to remind me of the posters indentity.
I for one like the link. It is frustrating when I read a post from a provider and cannot find info on her anywhere. Feel free to post the link, and for those people that don't like it, just DON'T click it...
By the way, you are a very beautiful woman!!!
For IamSilky, I have found your posts to be informative, and well written. You posted somewhere that you were going to post much anymore because some people have told you not to. I know that I am only one voice in the chior, but I have enjoyed your posts in the past and would encourage you to continue.
I've been called the Qween of Self promoters, so where are the posts from those same critics during this thread.??? Hummm I don't believe any of this is about posting "to much", but just another opportunity for the bottom-feeders to attack. If the Provider is a well known, or a petite little waif, most are willing to over look so-called "Self-Promoting".PureFun2US, I appreciate your comments, but unfortunately, the hand full of "Good Ol'Boys" that control this and other Boards, have an adgenda which doesn't include writing skills or information, but only what they deem worthy. OOOOppsss...I may have said to much already...and I'd much rather use my time providing a Quality Service to those who can appreciate it, rather than pulling knives out of my back...Just my 2 cent....
I have absolutely no problem with links. I don't know what the big deal is. I also have no problem with shameless self promotion. So if you're posting a link to identify yourself or to promote yourself it makes no difference to me.
Why shouldn't a women have an entrepreneurial mind?
I have never considered the posting of a link to be "self-promotion." I may be turned either on or off by what I perceive of a lady's personality by what she posts, & if she hits my on-switch I want to be able to find her site with a minimum of effort on my part.
My own opinion about what constitues self-promotion has nothing to do whatsoever with posting a link. So Mara, continue as you've been doing & don't worry about pleasing everyone..no one can do that & you'll only drive yourself to distraction if you try.
I like links and things..well post and things. It's very neat to know who is talking!
Just me,

Look, I don't know what all the hubbub is about. I like the links, its gives me a chance to get to know who's who. For those of you who don't like the links or their contributions to the discussion board, don't read their responses and don't click on their links. It is, fortunately, a free country, and you have choices (well, nothing is free, but you get my point).
