"First they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.
Then they came for the socialists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Catholic.
Then they came for me,
and there was no one left to speak for me."
- Martin Niemoller
Today the "enemy" is the terrorist. Who knows whom it will be tomorrow. Maybe people who look at online porn? People think that because they aren't terrorists that they have nothing to worry about and they feel somehow safer with these intrusive actions. But history shows time and time again that powers such as the ones our govt avails itself of rarely go unabused. How convenient for a govt to not be questioned. And how far down the govt food chain do these powers go? When will local police departments be able to use the data? How nice to have that possibility just around election time.
