Everyone's gotta die from something. Might as well make it something fun.

I hope that the link to the SF Clinic chart works. It contains some very interesting and scary information. Have fun, but be safe http://www.sfcityclinic.org/stdbasics/stdchart.asp

as "safe sex"?

Guess we all better stop right now.

He thinks of girls he could have sex with if he had more game....

That's safe :D

That chart makes many things less scary.

Performing oral sex on a woman?  It's a go!

The other activities have long lists of bad things you could get, which is why we all use condoms...  and then we're down to greatly reduced risk, which goes even further down if you just wash before and after

Most of know all this shit, or should know it. And it's not all that scary. Other than HIV (or perhaps Hep)--which can be prevented w/ use of a condom--those other diseases can be cured or controlled. Get screened regularly, and you run a very low risk of acquiring anything that will shorten or reduce the quality of your life. If you are married, obviously you may have different considerations. Although many married men hobby for years and don't seem to have any problems.

To me, what matters is how much you enjoy the hobby. If you enjoy the hobby very much, the risk/reward is a fair trade off. If you hobby out of boredom and could take it or leave it, then maybe you should consider a different activity. The irony is, with the thousands of people whose germs you have first and second hand contact with each year; the worst diseases you catch are unlikely to be from one of the handful of escorts you see.

Gee, you certainly take this all so lightly. You are wrong in that "most of us knows all this shit" because I'd say most DON'T and if they do, like you, they don't seem to care but what about all the people that are with the one person that contracts an STD?!  I hear stories of providers allowing BB service and all I can say is shame on them for being so careless.   RESPECT yourself and others more than this!

ALSO, It's not just married men that have to use more caution - are you kidding me?!?!?!   Mongers and providers alike are going to continue to engage in  sexual behavior with multiple people & it is THOSE people that are unknowingly being intimate with someone who is careless with their sexual activity!!

I think you take this too lightly and for that you are a very dangerous individual.  It's situations like this that we should know a persons identity so that we can make sure we stay FAR AWAY!!

You are either a hypocrite or someone with an agenda (more likely the latter). If you live in fear of STD's, you don't belong here. You should find someone you KNOW isn't fucking anyone else or stick to jacking it in your basement.

seriously scary hit: Lyme Disease, Guillain Barre, Glaucoma, MS, Diabetes, Epilepsy, Parkinson's, Dementia, Crohn's disease, Stroke, Cancer, Sepsis, Congestive Heart Failure, Cystic Fibrosis, COPD.

Most STD's, apart from those transmitted by blood, are annoying and embarrassing but not detrimental to your ability to work or your quality of life overall. And even those that could have more serious consequences rarely do if you screen regularly and treat them before they result in more serious complications. If you are calling an easily treatable ailment "scary shit" you don't have the maturity for the hobby (or sex in general) and should find something else to occupy your time.

Use a condom, get screened regularly, and use common sense. If you do these things and still can't have a good time, do us all a favor and STAY FAR AWAY from this board

I see what you mean but it's all in the escort you choose.  Supply & Demand + Hobbyist support groups (lol) help and hinder your chance of contracting a disease.  Competition makes the business risky and so does inflation.  But at least the provider who charges you the price you hate paying is the provider that is smart enough to keep her and you safe and stay clean. You folks know the rules, now lets act like it. C'mon

Thank you for the chart.  How come crabs are not discussed in the STD threads?  Were they wiped out by a grant from the Gates Foundation? They were the bane of my adolescence back in the Last Century. If you bring them home, you WILL be sleeping in the doghouse.

Maybe because lots of chicks are shaved/waxed?

the first time I caught them was from sleeping on a crash couch in a group house.  Seriously.  Do providers change sheets every time?

Crabs aren't a virus or a bacteria, they are lice.  They aren't treated with medication.  They are the same as head lice that kids pick up, just in a different location.

but if that's the case, I don't like the definition of disease.

Disease: a condition of the living animal or plant body or of one of its parts that impairs normal functioning and is typically manifested by distinguishing signs and symptoms :

Do crabs/parasites "impair normal functioning" ?

I would say yes, but I still don't think calling crabs a disease sounds right.

I agree, vern.  After all, what is bacteria if not a tiny living organism?  Crabs are just bigger.  Actually a lot bigger.  But I guess it's a biological issue.
Also, when you said parasite it made me think of The Dungbeetle.  I'd say he's this board's version of the crabs: not fatal, but highly unpleasant and annoying.  He "impairs the normal functioning" of things.  So does his butt-buddy, FID.  Let's hope that 'Tard has taken a hiatus after having been exposed as someone who likes guys to lick his sack.

they infect all your body hair, bedding, and clothing.  The fix is to shampoo your hair repeatedly with special Rx and "comb the nits" with a tiny useless comb that comes with the kit, and launder everything in your home including the cat.  I figure that's bad enough to lump into STD concerns.  Only two precautions that I can think of are (1) bring your own sheets on dates and (2) climb inside a large trash bag and poke your johnson out a small hole.
Guess my big question is whether folk in this forum have encountered crabs frequently, and if so, what part(s) of the country?

This story has been posted here before. (probably by mrfisher)

I should have done a search.  Great answer.

Keep in mind that herpes, while it's true it's forever, can be treated with Valtrex, which minimizes the outbreak.  Still not a good thing at all and to be avoided at all costs.  The problem is that herpes can be transmitted even when there's no obvious outbreak present.

True, but virtually all of us have been exposed to HPV.  Only a tiny percentage will get cervical cancer. And once you've been exposed there's nothing you can do.  Only those who've been vaccinated before their first sexual experience can't get it.  And the vaccine has only been around a few years.  So everyone in this community already has been exposed.  Cross your fingers.

and HPV can cause cervical cancer. that's a death sentence.

Lets talk about that! Everyone that has herpes raise your hand and step out of the line please! Or at least wear a tag! People get herpes from just touching skin! I'm not here to judge ijs.

This is why it's best to get to know people and always protect yourself two consenting people should know this.  Protection isn't going to stop the spread of disease but it can significantly reduce it.  One again everything that glitters ain't gold.  Hobbyist tend to be the safest, because they enjoy the sport of meeting new women who are consenting, but like in any sport, if you don't protect yourself, you will get hurt! Duh
