Yes, it's a fashion statement, and it's usually index finger

Just a way to accent your nails. It's been at least 2 years since it came about.

I've noticed lately a trend in nail polish, that one finger is a different color than the others. Is there a significance to the odd colored finger polish? Or is it just a different fashion statement?

Yup, just fashion purposes. I'm not really into it, I like all my nails in one color usually - though it dos look good on others when the right colors are picked.

Most of anything for me has to have a bit of 'meaning' behind it rather than just a fashion statement or to follow a trend. My 'ring' finger has a bit of significance to it in that I like to accentuate the fact that I'm 'not' married, so I will paint that one nail to go along with something else I have adorned on it ;) and no it's not a ring. Been doing that for a few years now.

I prefer designs myself & do my own acrylic nails.  I just gave myself a mani & pedi

All the craze now.

Get with the times dude.

Different color lipsticks is on the way.

I say its a conspiracy to convert gay guys into straight men.  Just to give them something they'd feel comfortable with before taking the next step....:D

Nail art started as a class marker in many Asian countries. It indicated that you did not do hard labor and therefore had time and leisure to maintain your nails. It's a fashion statement now, but, considering the wide range of people and classes who indulge it, including myself with my talons, the only thing it indicates now is an attention to detail. :

like no color just natural nails or faded french not that bright white shit.

who cares where it started. in the u.s. it looks trashy. you should also quote where you use other people's work.

identical twins? Must be.

iLookMaNoHands is TooFuckingStupid. That's a surprise. Good thing you use those alias' boys.

As if names like that would SCREAM anything but 'ghetto' (only to use your terminology) as well as 'trashy'. Good words boys. Ya know, coming from the upper class as it seems you both stem from with vocabulary such as that.

And really, if you knew anything about fashion, edgy fashion that is in particular, which I will assume you don't, nail art is a beautiful medium of artwork if done correctly.

the other one is an alias so am i. my name is to make people think it's projected on them, not me. i don't care what you call it. its still trashy looking and no business person is going to take a hooker out looking like she got her nails done at walmart. your cute taylor. why all the venom?

I did the index finger thing in october, all orange and my index finger black...this trend was very high end 2 years ago, now it may be in the masses and seem trashy...

two alias'. I said you were 'identical twins'. No venom, only love, always. But I will call someone out when they don't know what they're talking about...especially when it's typically a 'female' conversation and about 'nails'. LOL. Walmart, again, you can't be serious?

First off, it's all in how a woman carries herself and walks in a room, she could be wearing bottom dollar clothing and still look like a million bucks if she wears them right. The 'brand' does not make the woman. Don't kid yourself. You be the judge, keep an eye out for a new video I just produced coming out soon on my website....you tell me, designer, Walmart or does it really matter?

But yes, I will question you, no matter how 'cute' I am.

Thank you btw ;)

riggin' spent a week on horrible antibiotics and painful extraction. Yeah. Don't get your nails done at Walmart, lol.

Though some salons can do them well, I have found the Philippine and Asian places do really well

that was bad. I know. I must be spanked. And pay to get spanked on top of it.

In many (good) salons, you see it all the time. It's 'in'. Maybe with the younger crowd, however. I don't really see how one finger nail being a different color, (if done tastefully,) would be low class? Please explain further.

While all colors are the same on my nails, I still thought that one different colored nail looked cool. Probably not in style anymore… that's why I stick to the same color. Safe and simple, lol.

I have a flower painted on my big toe. Is that low class? lol.

like a couple years ago.
But,really that accent nail or one nail with different color or design has been around for years.
I remember back in high school we used to do this with our nails and everyone thought we were crazy.
Now here it is almost 10yrs later and it is a new trend.

I guess when the celebrities started doing it to be different ladies started paying attention and doing it.
In the midwest and ca this nail art has been around since the late 90s nothing new.
I like my accent nail but it is nothing extreme usually just a flower since my french manicure gets very boring to me.lol
Basically it is just a form of nail art some people like to be different and others could care less about all of that nail art.
