You either need to ask your doctor for the full STD test or go to a clinic. Unless you present symptoms or specifically ask for it to be done, your annual physical is not comprehensive enough to detect many STD's.
I am in the health care field. STD's are not a part of the regular screening process. If you are concerned speak to your Dr. or go to a clinic. By the time you know you have one (sores, pain, discharge ....too late for a screening) Red Flags (list above) are not usually something a GP usually checks for unless you say something.
If you are concerned GET CHECKED NOW. Keep this hobby safe for everyone.
By the way, I assume the ladies get screened regularly.
I go to my local AIM (Adult Industry Medical) clinic to get tested every 8-10 weeks regularly, regardless of my levels of activity. Some std's take a long time to gestate, and it could be months after an encounter before you see any symptoms.
I also use AIM because I'm a porn actress. No one in the adult movie industry works without a test. The test is only good for 28 days so most working adult performers have to get tested every 28 days.
As far as a yearly exam, my doctor tests for HPV but nothing else. Its up to each of us to stay tested and keep us all safe.

Your regualar office visits will generaly not include STD testing unless there are symptoms noted by your physician.
If you have symptoms why not get tested and treated privately / anonymously so that you stay safe, do not spread STDs and to not get "caught" over the issue....
Your regular doctor will not run these test as part of a general physical. That does not mean you can not ask for a full std panel at that time if you wish. Most Health insurance programs will cover at least a portion of your testing depending on your insurance. These charges can be over $500 so know your insurance if you decide to go that way. Do not wait for red flags to be tested. Red flags (lesions, discoloration, burning, discharge, etc.) are all reasons for immediate testing. Don't assume you have to see you regular doc to get tested tSTD.org is quite reputable from what I have heard and they use the same lab as my doc and most hospitals. They are also considerably less expensive then an the average office visit & testing with your doc if you insurance is not great. Doc
