Curiousity over the original thread "What is it all about"

Hey all,

I have been reading fairly regularly here.. and posting now and again.  I am a newer provider in the Seattle area (4+ months now) and I wanted to ask a question and comment if I may.

Comment first.  One of the things that absolutely AMAZED me about this new profession of mine is the overwhelming sense of community I have found here.  Both from the gents and ladies.

I find it in some senses amazing that in a hobby so fiercely (and rightly) focused on discretion we so blantantly share ANYTHING!  And that we are able to do it civily as the things we are dealing with are among the most passionate triggers out there.  (Keep in mind that passion doesn't always show as love or lust but can reflect the darker sides as well)

That said I can't even imagine sharing something so close to the bone as she has on ANY board.  We are strangers no matter what our similarities.  And while I appreciate this forum for venting how sad to think that this and places like it are the only place she felt she could state this.

So my question is this... had you been the Chicago moderator... would you have allowed that post?  I am not sure what the alternative might be but...

And let me say this is NOT to second guess the Chi moderator.  This is just a hypothetical.  As such please don't attack said person for allowing it...

Oh and by the way... Personally I do care for my fellow co workers AND hobbyists... The ladies are my safety net and the gents my trapeze... Hmm... is TER the Big Top then?

And the Chicago moderator had no choice but to post.  Someone in trouble is reaching out, the responsible thing to do is to let the message be heard.

However, my problem with the chi board is that in a case like this when time is an issue, messages aren't screened and posted in a timely manner.  Some of the posts may contain important advice (and may be some joking about it) As far as i'm concern her thread takes precedance, all other are trivial. The disclaimer said it may take a few days for a post to appear, what good is it if the worst case scenerio has been carried out.

And Ms. wytchypuss, glad you can see that this community contains many quality people who cares.  As for your truthful comment on passion, in this community the darker ones aren't as bountiful.

who can give that board the personal attention it needs and deserves.  I try to approve messages there at least twice a day, but that is not the same as having a local moderator who is familiar with the players in his area.  Anyone in the Chicago area who is interested in joining our team of mods, please write to [email protected] and let them know.

Talaya, I hope you can see that there are people here who care about what happens to you, and I hope you grab hold of one of the hands being extended to you.  Please take care.

Had this been on the SF Board, where I am the local moderator, I would have let the post stand. Because I watch the board several times a day and most of the regular posters are unmoderated there, replies to the post can go up much more quickly.

Beyond that, I would have likely been able to get real physical help to her. I would have known who she was, or others who knew who she was and how to find her. Obviously some people who responded to her post know her, have met her - have her phone number and email address at least - amd may know where she is. I would have tracked her down and gotten her some help.

yes, i could live with posting this, how ever it would be difficult for me to live with myself knowing that if i didn't post this and something tragic were to happen...  i like living in a world where people help each other.   posting this you allow others to get involved and see the best in your fellows. that you can make a difference in the world. even though i don't know what the outcome of this will be, reaching out to any one asking for help is aa good idea. also it is reassuring to know that if i needed help there are some that would go out of their way to help me. this alone keeps my faith that there is good in humanity and that is reason to live.
