I'm not a fan of either Janet Jackson or Justin Timberlake, lets make this clear from the start. But after reading the news about the Grammy's, I don't get it.
Janet Jackson is guilty of her breast being revealed on Worldwide Television as a result of an act of ASSAULT on her person (staged doesn't remove the representative act) by Justin Timberlake. She has been vilified, excoriated, and shredded in the media as if she alone were responsible. I don't get it.

I do not give a rat's ass about her tits on TV, I've watched NYPD Blue, Line of Fire, and National Geographic. Sure it was in bad taste to show it in prime time with many millions of children watching the entire banal performance of cock grabbing, dry humping and bra ripping. It's MTV, how could ANYONE expect anything different? Even if the entire thing was staged with JJ's approval, as has been hinted at, that's just bad judgement generating extraordinary publicity; also called marketing. It's not grounds for JJ being vilified while Justin "Wardrobe Malfunction" Timberlake is collecting Grammy's and giving acceptance speeches and shallow worded apologies.
Timberlake was the perpetrator of an act of sexual assault on a woman. Why is it the woman's fault?
I simply do not get it.
Unless of course, its all a smokescreen designed to cover the upcoming attempted takeover of CBS by the Far Right in a staged coup under the guise of "license revocation hearings".
That I get!

And to add insult to injury Justin has the nerve to "apologize" on the Grammy stage by still insisting that it was "unintentional"

And this from a guy who in his first TV soundbyte immediately after the Superbowl said: "wow, wasn't that cool? it'll give everyone something to talk about!" (paraphrasing).

They were both invited with the condition that they apologize.  She refused.  He agreed and apologized (but lessened it by trying to say that it was an accident)

I kept thinking about the various Friends episodes where Ross's continual complaints about cheating on Rachel are followed by "WE WERE ON A BREAK!"

Much ado about nothing.........

As much fun as it is to post a crazy headline based on half the facts, that ain't the way it was.

She and he were both responsible for what happened during the halftime show.  He didn't rip off her clothes against her will.  She worked with him, and had the costume altered to tear in just such a fashion.  It was absolutely a team effort.

They embarassed the network and the network has no obligation to give either of them any airtime.  If I owned the network I wouldn't have allowed them on the Grammys at all.

Don't get me wrong.  Personally I would prefer more nudity and less violence on TV, but that's not what this is about.  This is about a publicity stunt.

I think the Network was being pretty big to say "Ok, you can be on the air again, in less than a week, you just have to apologize."

Justin said OK.  Janet said no.

Sure- stop and think about it. Kobe has found a million ways to take your attention off of his other problem, you know, like getting sick, getting hurt and so on. Now Michael has found a way to shift some of the heat off of him to another member of the family.  Pretty clever, eh?  With all this racist fueled pursecution of them they need to keep coming up with new strategies to stay ahead of the game.

"But after reading the news about the Grammy's, I don't get it."

There's no need to "get" it.  This is a weird artificial fantasy world that you're talking about.  It's soap opera, not real life.  If you're paying attention to who wins these "awards" and who doesn't, then you've already bought into an illusion.

It's just garbage.  Don't let it into your life, and you'll be happier, not to mention less perplexed.
