Ladies, please turn off the auto-music...

It's extremely awkward to load your page and be blasted by auto-play music.

I get that you want to set the mood!  But do you really want to set the mood for everyone at Starbucks, or the office, or the library?

Thanks for reading.

you are browsing escort sites, they might just think you are watching soft core porn.  Lol

I AGREE!
.
Search "no;flash" on Newbie. Sometimes people write "autoplay", "auto-play", "autostart", ... so you miss some. "No;flash" gets the same hits in one search.

Providers go to great lengths to ensure discretion for themselves and presumably for clients.  Having an auto-play music feature on their website is contradictory to that principal.

Why are you at Starbucks, or the office, or the library looking at provider websites?

I didn't say I was at Starbucks or anywhere else. But I could have been somewhere that would be problematic for me when music started playing unexpectedly.

Please don't obscure the point of my suggestion with distractions.

Because his wife frowns upon him browsing that at home!

Most of the public WIFIs offered by chain stores like Starbucks, DD, Panera Bread etc  ban adult websites. Same is true for your local county library.  Plus I don't want to be on hooker website when someone sneaks up on me in a public setting.. I have lost count of how many times I have been at the local Panera Bread or Dunkin' Donuts  and ran into someone I know.

That being said, yes it's annoying to have music blast when you are looking at websites, but I haven't come across a whole lot of them having music in the first place. Back in the younger days of the Internet, it was a lot more common to have music.. Think... Myspace and those webpages AOL used to offer..

Again, I did not say I was at any of these locations. But I could have been...

And I frequently need to use public WiFi for any variety of reasons. When I do, I learned two very important best practices:
1. Always use VPN to access the internet. This will bypass any blocks on content access.
2.  Always find a seat with your back to the wall. And if possible use a privacy screen on your laptop monitor. This prevents shoulder surfing.

And now I will need to add a third:
3. Always leave your speakers off, or your headset on.

But after you made yourself feel good by calling BS (unsuccessfully), thank you for agreeing with my main point.

..If those were hypothetical examples, you have to lead in with that. I wasn't the only one who deduced that you were actually at Starbucks browsing hooker websites.

Now you do make a good point about adding an extra layer of VPN, but I have noticed that previously, such additional layers made my access to the Internet a bit slower. I have used VPNs in the past to bypass hotel wifi. I have learned that using my cellular data is lot more efficient.

was at starbucks at all.  I thought he was at an English tea room and was uncomfortable with the high class ladies at the next table knowing he was browsing hooker sites.  Why is your "deduction" any more valid than mine?  I think we are both speculating and you should lead with that like I am.  LOL

Hearing the porn music and ooohs and aaaahs coming from the Confessional can attract unwelcome attention, too.

because he actually said Starbucks.  I didn't pull that out of my ass.. LOL.. You can go read his OP.

On the other hand, he didn't say a damn thing about English Tea .

of three places he named as public places where one might browse hooker websites.  I don't believe he said it WAS Starbucks.  A tea room is another one, even though it wasn't on his list.  See how I doubled down on the tea room?  Lol

With the exception of about 1/2 dozen ladies, TER boards are a sausage fest.

Sad fact but true as of this point in time.

I don't think the ladies that do monitor the boards have such web sties.

...  that such an (IMO) innocuous post should generate such heated rhetoric.

Does it really matter where I, or anyone else, am/is when loading a webpage leads to auto-play music?

The point - THE ONLY POINT - was to suggest to those providers who do this that they might rethink it.

Are those of you who spent time picking apart my OP, parsing every word for some hint of controversy or conflict really that bored with your life? Have you considered an alternative, like getting laid?  (There are resources for that if you are interested... I'll be happy to send you the URL for TER by DM if you send me a request.)

Really, people, I am not that interesting.
